Ihad to create a new account to requst this. I have forgotten my password and when i do the password reset I don't receive an email. I have tried several times over the last couple of days. The username is Tyeguy08the email I use is
tyeg...@bell.net. everything was working fine on my nvidia shield but had to reset my modem and haven't been able to use connect to log back in. Emby is still working fine on my downstairs tv. (using firestick)
Having issues with my shield and I'm considering wiping and starting from scratch. Channels is working perfectly, and I would like to backup before wiping everything and restore it afterwords on my clean system. Is there a procedure to do this. I can see the backup in the server settings, but don't see an option to restore.
There is no issue with channels right now that's the only thing working perfectly, however the rest of my system is a sluggish mess and other servers like plex and the like are broken. To fix my system to a workable state after hours of troubleshooting I've made the decision to factory reset my shield, I just need to know how to backup and restore my channels server so don't lose my database tuner settings and recordings.
Have an Nvidia Shield Pro that stopped responding to Control4 commands earlier today. It's using the official driver, and running Shield Experience 8.2.3 (the latest firmware). Shield Remote Services app is also on the latest/correct version. It's been working fine
I power cycled the Shield - no change. Took it off UUID, and added it back just using the static/reserved IP. The device is hardwired. Then I deleted the driver, and set everything back up again. None of these had any effect. All the way through, the Shield was showing as online in driver properties, and I could see the response to commands in Lua, but no actual control of the box. It would respond to the Shield remote.
Eventually I gave up, and used an old Videostorm IRUSB that I had laying around. The box responded straight away. So I deleted that and re-added the official Shield driver. No control again, but Lua showing a response with the correct commands. Swapped back to the IRUSB - all good again.
So - I changed the static IP of the Shield as a last resort. Shield driver has control again. Created a reservation, and called it good. I still have no idea what caused the problem, but it's fixed for now.
Same problem again today. A different Nvidia Shield Pro box, suddenly no control, even tho' I can see the commands in Lua. Have tried box reboot, controller reboot, new static IP, using IP instead of UUID. Still no control. The last time this happened, a change of IP address solved it. This time not so lucky.
I just had this same issue happen to me. Tried removing SDDP, changing IP address, full power cycle of shield and controller (all this many times). No luck. Just tonight, removed Static IP address in shield menu, re-identified in Composer, rebooted Shield TV in its menu and now it works again. One of the strangest things I have ran into.
I've had this happen twice with the latest happening just now. Both times seem to be after android updates on the shield. I have to bug my dealer to do anything in composer, so I thought I'd ask if anyone has any tips before I go that route.
after the update, sometimes you need a hard reset, happens to me. unplug the shield and leave it off for 30 seconds and plug it back in. it should sync back up, doing a software reboot doesn't work for some reason. you have to physically unplug it. it will come back after a couple minutes after it boots up.
For me the power cycle did not work. However changing the static IP address did the trick to re-establish the connection. I guess applying a new IP address forced the SDDP and Shield Remote Service to reinitialize ....??
The battery in your controller might be low or dead. If the battery is low/dead, then the wireless connection to the Shield device will be weak, thus not connecting to the device. You should charge your controller, then try again. If the controller will not charge, your battery might be dead and will need to be replaced. You can check out our Battery Replacement Guide to replace your battery.
Ensure that the HDMI is securely plugged into the corresponding spots on both the Nvidia Shield and the TV or monitor. If the HDMI is plugged into the correct spot and there is still a black screen, try a different HDMI cord as the one you are using may not be functioning properly.
If you are certain that the HDMI is plugged in correctly, you may have a faulty motherboard. You must replace the motherboard completely. Please check out the Motherboard Replacement Guide on how to replace it.
If the audio does not seem to be accurate with what is being seen on the screen, your audio is probably out of sync. Go into the advanced settings found within the Shield interface and select Audio Video Sync and use the slider to properly adjust the sound so it matches and is in sync.
The HDMI plug, which displays the visuals and audio onto the TV, may not be properly secured to either the TV or the Shield. Ensure that the plug is properly connected to the TV and the Shield. If it continues to not work, the ports on the shield may be damaged. In this case, the I/O Board with all the ports must be replaced as they are on the same piece. Please check out the I/O Board Replacement Guide.
Mine just reset on its own and is now asking what country to sel3ct like it started over but I click it and it says it can't connect to internet even though I was just using it perfectly minutes ago! 2hat happened? I can't even get to home screen to factory reset! PLz help!
So on top of Google's failures and poor design decisions with Android 11, unfortunately Nvidia managed to screw things up even further by releasing a completely broken update to Android 11 for all Nvidia Shield TV devices. As of posting this topic on February 8, 2022, the issues have still not been fixed in the latest official release of the Nvidia firmware. The latest official release prevents many apps from properly using storage on Nvidia Shield TV devices.
First off, if you have not yet upgraded to the 9.0.0 release of the Nvidia Shield TV software, then don't. Stick with your current firmware. The latest release is very broken and buggy and is guaranteed to give you many issues.
The latest official release as of making this post is 9.0.0 (33.1.0.236). You can check your current version by going to Settings > Device Preferences > About > Shield Android TV SW Version on your Shield device. If your current version is less than this version, please don't update, or you'll run into issues. If you're on this version, though, the below steps should help to resolve your inevitable issues.
Edit (2022-02-21): This "fix" from Nvidia will allow proper access to both internal storage, the SD card, and network drives for LaunchBox to access. However, it will *not* fix the issues with USB drives. As far as we can tell, these are still very broken in the Nvidia firmware, and as far as we know there's literally nothing we can do to fix the issue until Nvidia gets it fixed.
After upgrading, you should be on version 9.0.1 (33.1.0.283), and all (see bold text above) issues with the latest beta version of LaunchBox should be fixed. However, as of writing this post, you will need the latest beta version of LaunchBox for Android in order to fix some of the issues with Android 11 on the Shield TV.
That should get you up and running. Our apologies for the hassles here, even though we really couldn't do much about these issues. Feel free to post about your experiences with this or ask for help below. Happy gaming.
Hey Jason, I have followed all of these parameters to the T and I still am not able to access the network attached, mounted storage that I host and import my ROMs from. Any suggestions/help you can provide?
I noticed that all of my network attached storage was completely removed when I upgraded, myself. I have not done any real testing on this, but my guess would be that Nvidia has not yet fixed those issues with network storage. The above steps should fix issues with reading from USB drives or SD cards, but it sounds like it won't fix network-attached storage. As of yet, I do not know of a solution to that. So I guess it's back to yelling at Nvidia about that stuff.
Launching games from LaunchBox into RetroArch Plus is working just fine for me on my hotfixed Nvidia Shield TV. So it should be possible to get working. It's hard to know what the issue is for you without diving in deeper. Have you tried multiple platforms? Are you sure you're not just missing a BIOS file? What platforms have you tried? Where are the ROMs located?
I've tried multiple platforms with no luck, getting the black screen each time in Launchbox running Retroarch Plus. I've configured Retroarch correctly and have no issues loading ROMs through the app. Standalone emulators launch OK in Launchbox.
