| Courses cover the science and art of
coaching fencing specific to the weapon (foil/epee); training principles,
how to instruct the fundamentals of the weapon, the weapon tactics, the
rules and how to teach refereeing for the weapon (foil/epee). All
appropriate to the level. Course is for those coaching new entrants and beginners (year 1-2) and will cover the management of group lessons. There is a component on fundamental individual lesson coaching skills so having appropriate coaching equipment will be needed (plastron and for epee a coaching sleeve and leg protection). Participants who complete the course and maintain a log book of their practical coaching experience for a minimum of 30 hours (20 hours supervised, 10 hours unsupervised) may request an assessment for their OFMA Level 1 accreditation. All courses are open to coaches from any region.
