Hello,

I am using ck2cti in Ubuntu 12.04 to convert the following mechanism from ck to cti: https://www-pls.llnl.gov/?url=science_and_technology-chemistry-combustion-nc7h16_reduced_mechanism

I receive the error: No thermo data found for species: 'n2'

I looked through the thermo file and could not find any differences in the formatting of n2 compared to other species. What should I change in the thermo file to correct this? I was able to convert this mechanism using ck2cti in Windows so I do not understand why I would get an error in Ubuntu.

Thanks,

Why 'n2' and not 'N2'?

That returns a single CTI file with reaction mechanisms and thermodynamic properties for all species. The thermodynamic properties file must have in NASA polynomial format (and that's upcase N2 and not n2!) such as used by CHEMKIN where an excellent reference is the Burcat’s database

Perhaps that is the solution?

Hi Rene,

Thanks for your suggestion, but unfortunately I don't think that is the issue. The previous specie (ar) is also lowercase and there is no error. I tried changing to N2 and I still received the error.

Any other ideas?

Anna,

You can fix the mechanism by changing the 7th line of the therm.txt file to read 'THERMO' (e.g. change to all caps) and the last line of the file to read 'END'. I've added an issue to the tracker to make Cantera's parser handle this variant on the standard mechanism format.

Regards,
Ray

Thank you Ray- this fixed the error! And thank you for adding this issue to the tracker.
