Hola!

Please be aware that once you decide to open Adobe Acrobat Reader through Rosetta, you may experience lags in reading PDF documents. You may then decide (as I did) to use Preview for reading and Adobe Acrobat Reader only for signing purposes.

In the configuration options "Digital IDs" I found Digital ID files where I can add any digital ID. There I browse my Mac and selected the file with the digital ID. Now I can sign with this file (it has "nothing to do with the digital ID installed in my Mac" although it is the same digital ID.) and I have to type the digital ID password every time I have to sign a document. Besides, I suppose I

This issue appeared after I had to change my old certificate for a new one. It had nothing to do with the MacOS version, because my old certificate worked perfectly. I think it was with Mojave, but now I have Catalina

But the problem started with Mojave and I can still browse web pages where I am asked to provide my digital certificate with no problem at all using Safari (amazingly enough, I can't use Google Chrome either since I installed my new certificate). Sorry, I am not so expert in Computering to know if that link will help me with my problem

In addition, when you open Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, you may also want to go to Edit -->> Preferences --> "Trust Manager" --->>> And see the section "Automatic Adobe Approved Trust List (AATL)". Update this list as well.

Also go to Edit -->> Preferences --> Signatures--->>> see the section "Identities and Trusted Certificates" -->>> click on "MORE". The window dialogue box "Identities and "Digital ID and Trusted Certificate Settings" will open.

Curiously enough in the preferences of Adobe Acrobat Pro DC my digital ID appears as trusted to sign and says "The route of the selected certificate is valid". However, when I try to sign (certificate) a document, a pop-up error message appears and says: "Error during signature: the selected id is not valid"

Besides, I suppose I cannot change the location of that file. It's not what I had expected, because with the old one I didn't have to type the password, but it works

But that's the strange thing. I could see the certificate in Acrobat, but when I tried to sign, Acrobat said the route was not valid. I installed the certificates just clicking on the digital ID file and it went directly to the Mac keychain

No s si podras arreglarlo. Le agradecera que me respondiera con una solucin, si la ha encontrado.

Hi Manuel, it seems to be a problem after renewal with the certification authority (FNMT I guess). Acrobat does not recognize (even if it is correctly installed, since I can sign with MS word). In our organization many users have the same problem. I don't know if you could fix it. I would be grateful if you could answer me with a solution, if you have found one.

I am a Mac user running on OS X El Capitn vers. 10.11.14 who just installed the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC program so that I could sign ACA (Autoridad de Certificacin de la Abogaca -Spain-) documents. When I attempt to sign these documents using my ACA certificated (common access card) via my smart card reader, I get the error message: "the credential selected for signing is invalid". My ACA credentials should not be the issue, as I've used it on work computers without signature problems, so I'm thinking that the issue i'm getting on my Mac is related to my current Adobe settings. Any advice or assistance in regards to signing documents with my ACA card would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully, I can get some real assistance instead of a generic copy and paste "trouble shooting" response. Thank you

Also different user, same issue. The answer is no help. One of my Macs with adobe 10 pro that i did not allow to update the digital signing certificates, within adobe, still allows me to digitally sign with my CAC. My other two computers, macbook air with adobe DC pro and a macbook pro with adobe X pro, I allowed the update and cannot digitally sign pdfs. What changes did the update make to my computer that I can undo to see if that is the problem. This is effecting my work on a daily basis as I have to get someone else to sign documents for me. Please HELP.

I'm having the same issue, but both fix actions above did not work. Signing worked for a long time, but about a week ago is now giving me the "the credential selected for signing is invalid" error. I manage IT for my organization and it is starting to happen on their machines too. I really need a fix action since it is now affecting our business processes.

Come on Adobe - we're having the same problem with Acrobat Pro and PIV cards. Basically this is the only function justifying this product on my systems so while you may think this is a problem with a small feature from my perspective the entire application is broken.

Having the same issue; can't sign anything using my Common Access Card. Tried both this remedy and the one referred to on the other post with no avail. This issue is preventing me from working from my personal computer (MacBook Pro Version 10.11.6 OS X El Capitan)

I have to the same issue. I still can't sign with my military CAC and its causing a lot of headache. I am required by the military to sign documents with my CAC card and am unable to at this time. Is there any update on this issue? (MacBook Pro Version 10.11.6 OS X El Capitan).

1) How do I verify permissions? The only thing I can do is click on Get Info for /Library/CACKey/libcackey.dylib and allow read and white permissions. I have no idea how to verify -rwxr-xr-x (755) owned by root?

That will list all the files in that directory and their permissions post that back if you are unsure. I actually don't think that the execute permissions are required (at least not with Centrify)

Look at that other thread mentioned above for the paths it depends on what smart card middleware you are running. My posts have the path for where Centrify is installed (note I don't think the necessary libraries are included with Centrify Express) other posted for libCAC, I've never used that one so I don't personally know the paths. It may take some searching around you may want to watch a basic video on navigating a unix filesystem if you are not familiar with using a terminal and the cd and ls commands.

I am frequently sent pdf contracts that need to be filled out, signed and returned. I turn the pdf into a form and then add a signature field, click "certify with visible signature," sign it and save it as a pdf. But then when I email the signed pdf it has all the form content but doesn't show the signature. Same for when I open the file in Preview. The signature only shows up in Acrobat. Can anyone help explain what I am doing wrong?

The problem is Preview (and I assume you are referring to the application that comes on the Mac) doesn't know how to process the signature, so it doesn't display it. However, if your clients use the free Adobe Reader they will see the certifying signature. If you need them to fill out the form, be sure to Reader Enable the file before you send it to them. You can do this by selecting the Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader menu item.

It won't appear unsigned if you are using either Acrobat of the free Adobe Reader. There is no way that Adobe can make non-Adobe applications (e.g. Apple's Preview) process digital signatures. One of the complaints we often hear is the size of the Reader download, but if you are using a slimmed down version of a PDF viewer it's going to certain lack functionality and signature processing will almost certainly be one of those items.

If you put Acrobat or Reader on the computer then the signed PDF files will display correctly in both the browser and the stand-alone apps. If you're using third party software, then it's out of our hands.

As an aside, if you do convert your signed documents into image files, there won't be any signature. Signatures only work in conjunction with signature form fields and an image file does not contain a form field. It's all one flattened picture.
