Greetings, all.

A while back I downloaded a zip file of various canon cat files
including some of the original forth code used in the system. It was
a great resource and a nice collection of computing history.
Unfortunately, I lost the archive- and due to Google removing the
files section of groups I'm not sure how I can retrieve them.

If anyone has the files and could temporarily upload them somewhere, I
would be greatly appreciative. On a similar note, I was trying to
think of a way we could gain back files access, perhaps a Dropbox
account may work?

Thank you.

Hi Fourzee,

I can give you (or anyone else) a copy of tForth that runs under windows XP (not 7) and some notes that go with it. Note that tForth is the Forth that we used to develop all of the Cat software.

Hi
I have the source files but not all in a zip file.
I also have source that I modified to include the HP
printers as an option instead of just the Canon printers.
I have that in a tar file if you can use that. Otherwise
it will take me a day or so to pit together.
I've got family stuff to tend to today.

 Hi
I sould mention, I can show one how to make modifications
( non-distructive and reversable ) to their Cat to be able to
use it to create New Eproms with Vrs 2.40 ( what is in the
sourse code ). It requires some socket, wire, 74LS32,
two static RAMs, two banks of DRAM.
It is not too hard. One can then do things like add their
own favorite printer or whatever.
The code is cool as it also include an assembler.
I also figured out how to modify the source code to
allow one to use newer disk drives that do not have the
DSKRDY signal. It does require some wire changes but
you no loner need and additional circuits as I had
in my earlier fix. It is just a change to the firmware.

That would be excellent, Sandy- it would be neat to play around with!

Dwight, that would be great. Any format you have the source code
stored in is fine with me- whatever is most convenient for you is
perfect. Your hardware modification also sounds interesting;
unfortunately I don't have a real Canon Cat to explore. It is
inspiring that you have the skills to develop such modifications!

Thanks again, all!

Hi
Here are the source code files for the 2.40
code.
It took me a while to find the un-modified code.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to find the files for me,
Dwight. I really appreciate it!
