BRUSHESThese brushes should be washed after each use with warm water and mild soap; they are high quality brushes and last a very long time. Some darker colors may stain the bristles but as long as the water runs clear through the brush, that means the brush is clean and is ready to be used with new colors. To store, lay the brush flat or hang it with the bristles pointing down.
TROWELS: Clean off the plaster from the blades as soon as you can. The longer you let it sit the harder it is to get it off. These highest quality trowels will last you through many jobs when they are kept clean and maintained. Use water, and mild soap for cleansing, finally drying with a cotton/microfiber cloth. Always keep the blade protectors on, when the trowel is not in use, in order to avoid any scratches on the blades.
Then a few years after I started blogging, I decided to spend a little more on a Purdy brush (true story,) and my mind was BLOWN! I could not believe the difference in how well the paint went on and how much better the finished results were! Those professionals were right after all! haha.
Another brush that I have used on smooth surfaces for several projects is the Purdy Clearcut! This brush (which also comes in different sizes,) is AMAZING for cutting in on trim and using on projects with edges.
I hope this post has been helpful to you! Be sure to save this information for future use on one of your own paint projects. I will be sharing another post soon that will share with you the best paint brushes and roller covers to use on semi-smooth to rough surfaces.
This was very helpful. Like you, I also learned years ago that good quality brushes make a paint project so much easier and more professional looking. How do you clean your brushes? A post on that topic would be helpful.
thank you! i will try those and I knew krita had a stabilizer it just doesnt feel smooth yet maybe im too used to sai qwq i could use a plugin to help but ill play around with it tysm for the brushes though! Also the 2018 version seems to not be available anymore but i will check it out
I'm not 100% sure how this forum works, but I'm hoping this would bump this post by me replying, because I am desperate for a custom brush feature that is without needing to open up a separate window to draw in for the plugin.
No other art software feels the same as Paint.NET to me. Paint.NET has everything I need, except those custom brushes - or even just a square brush to be honest. I'd love to see a feature like this added!
Our synthetic brushes are made specifically for long-lasting use. Our brushes are a specially formulated mixture of Nylon and Polyester tapered filament in different lengths and diameter ratios. This mixture was developed to provide the right amount of stiffness while also providing enough flex with bend recovery. The amount of tapered filament used in the mixture allows for a smooth release of the paint application onto a surface evenly. Our synthetic brushes are able to keep their shape without becoming deformed when used in Dixie Belle water-based paints as their stiffness changes very little. We developed these brushes to be dense having a lot more filament in them than you typically would with these size brushes
One of the more important parts of our brushes is the finishing process done to the ends of the filament. There is the right amount of tipping which grinds each filament tip to a finer point and flagging which splits the end of the filament tip like hair. Both the tipping and flagged is performed to specific depths on each filament strand. The flagging allows for more paint pickup, to cover more space and laying paint down smoothly on a surface.
Developed with artists, these high-quality professional brushes are designed for acrylic colors and mediums. Choose from traditional small-scale brushes for detail work and large-scale Freestyle brushes for specialized techniques, large surfaces and experimental applications.
