Hi, i have a hybrid laptop with everything working correctly, i run Dota 2 with steam using the commands for the card to run. But, fps are reeeally low...i mean i play with the lowest graphics possible, and its running with 35-40 fps which is decent, but MANY times in one game, it stucks for 3-4 seconds(which in a game like this its a LOT) and a sudden drop of fps occurs 10-15. The card is Nvidia GeForce 940M, is there anything i can do to resolve this? any help appreciated!
I believe that the problem is somewhere else, cause the gpu power changes automatically, thanks for the reply though! I dont think that the power fails at all, if the card changed to integrated many more problems would appear.
I play a game called DOTA 2. this game doesn't require high graphics but this laptop having such good config how is that i can't play at all on this. Its called Gaming and I am not able to play one game which is all I play.
The reasons why it can drop to such low FPS, normally is related to overheating and thermal trottling, but in your case, its a new unit so lets not think about that right now, but we can check the temperatures of the CPU and GPU when that low FPS are appearing.
What is the GPU selected inside the game? Can you select it inside DOTA 2 game menu? Maybe your game is running on the Intel card instead the discrete GPU, causing the frames to drop to such low values.
What about in OMEN Gaming Hub? Check if you have a graphic switcher and to select either hybrid mode or discrete card. It could mean also you dont have the AC Adapter plugged in? Make sure you play with AC Adapter otherwise the CPU and GPU power will be set to lower values and you cant play without the power adapter.
Check also one other thing, the screen resolution inside the game, the graphic quality, play in window mode, open OMEN Gaming Hub and check the CPU and GPU temperatures during gaming, to understand what is going on with the unit.
Try to play Dota2 in window mode, then install CoreTemp and GPU-Z, lets monitor the CPU temperature when the frames are dropping, You can monitor the CPU temperature and the clock speed, to see if there is a big drop on the CPU clock speed and if there is an increase of temperature. I want to know if the problem you have could be related to overheating or maybe thermal throttling for the CPU. When the frames are dropping, do they recover or they stay low?
During gaming in window mode, open these two apps, when the FPS are dropping check the clock speed from the CPU and the core temperatures, if there is any core reaching temperatures of 90 degrees and higher and if the clock speed drops as well.
What about the NVIDIA card? What is the driver version? Go to NVIDIA control panel and there is a small i click on it, it gives you that information. Do you have GeForce Experience installed? If not, install it and look for updates for the drivers.
Do you have any other game to test and check the FPS values? If not, you can install Unigine Valley, its a benchmark, run the ben mark with 1080p, select highest quality and no anti aliasing. In the end it gives you a score take a picture and attach it here.
You say stutter, but the FPS are dropping or you get stuttering? Do you have G-Sync option or V-Sync and are they enabled? Stutter can happen when FPS are dropping to a low value, so this technologies they syn the GPU frames with the screen refresh rate, so when FPS are dropping since they are linked to each other, you can have stuttering symptom. If you have V-Sync enabled or G-Sync, please disable it.
The memory being used, can you open task manager and sort out the memory tab and check what is taking so much resources? Then install Razer Cortex, its a gaming app to optimize your system, it will stop some services and clean your system, its very easy to use, search by this tool and try to check if, after running it, how much cleaning it has done and then you can try to play and check again.
If it happens again, you might want to install HWINFO64, its a small monitoring tool, you can run the sensors option, then there is a logging option at the bottom right corner, enable it before gaming, it will monitor everything in terms of cpu, gpu, memory utilization, temperatures, if there is thermal throttling, you can then attach that file and i can check it. If you can, try to record a video showing the problem and either a link where i can download it to see it, make sure you have the FPS counter enabled when gaming to see what is going on.
New year, new Dota. The 2024 season is here and there's a lot that we can expect to unpack in Dota 2. Following the abolishment of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC), Valve has made it clear that it wants to dedicate more attention to in-game stuff like patches, events, and cosmetics! A new hero called Ringmaster is well on his way and it may arrive in the next update. But when can we expect the next Dota 2 update to drop?
Using the Candle token, players are able to access an "encounter" on the Main Quest map which shows "glimpses of some changes in tomorrow's gameplay patch." The Dota 2 community is now actively putting together the puzzle to take a sneak peek at the next Dota 2 update!
User u/DrDesmondGaming posted on Reddit his analysis of when the next Dota 2 patch might drop. They compiled the release time of four previous patches, 7.32a - 7.32d, and spotted the similarities. All of these patches were released on a Tuesday morning from 12:17 PM to 2:48 PM (Seattle Time).
The current gameplay patch is six months old, which means it is beyond stale and needs drastic changes. We can anticipate massive updates to not only heroes, items, but the foundations of the game. OP heroes like Bristleback, Lifestealer, Razor, Hoodwink, and MORE may be nerfed or adjusted. Items that are seemingly broken like Wind Waker and Khanda may also be impacted.
At the moment, there are pretty strong rumors from the Chinese scene that mentioned League Runes. Contrary to what you may think, these are not actually "runes". It is a passive ability given to all heroes from the very start of the game, much like a concept in League of Legends and MLBB.
The most exciting update that the Dota 2 community is looking forward to is the release of the new hero, Ringmaster. The hero was announced during TI12 and it is scheduled to be released in "early 2024". Well, time is ticking and we might just see the hero make its entry this next Dota 2 update.
With the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) no longer here, Valve also promises more fun ideas which can mean consistent events and new cosmetics for the entire season. We'll have to see what Valve has in store and if the hype is worth the wait!
The average player count in Dota Underlords has likewise been dropping monthly, recently hitting just over 11,000 users, with a peak player count of just under 20,000. That's a drop in playerbase of over 80 percent, and a drop in peak player count of over 90 percent.
Valve developed the game for mobile, PC, and Linux following the success of Dota Auto Chess, a community-built game mode within Dota 2. Dota Auto Chess was itself a phenomenon, with over seven million players within the first three months of going live.
You should ensure that the game files are not corrupted, since corrupted game files might lead to FPS drops in Dota 2. To fix FPS drops caused by corrupted game files, you can verify the integrity of game files in Steam. Here is how to do it:
You can update your drivers automatically with either the 7 days free trial or the Pro version of Driver Easy. It takes just 2 clicks, and you get full support and a 30-day money-back guarantee with the Pro version:
The Dota 2 FPS drops issue may occur if too many applications or programs are running at the same time. So try restricting applications and downloads in the background before playing the game to see if this issue reappears. Here is how to do it:
According to reports from Dota 2 fans, Valve has interfered with the drop system for rare items from the Cold-Frozen Chest. Players have found that the chance of obtaining valuable items such as rare sets or Arcana has decreased significantly compared to previous years. This caused outrage and dissatisfaction in the community, as players expected the same drop chance to remain the same or even increase it.
According to information from Valve, the chance of obtaining the extremely rare Gingerbread Baby Roshan item is 1 in 100,000, and the uncommon item has a 1 in 300 chance. This ratio has caused dissatisfaction among fans of the game, who have expressed their criticism of the developers due to what they consider to be aggressive monetization Dota 2.
In the latest patch, Valve introduced the latest Frostivus 2023 Treasure Chest, a delightful tribute to the Frostivus holiday. This enchanted chest contains a variety of cosmetic treasures, carefully organized into five separate levels. The main prize at the highest level is the Gingerbread Baby Roshan courier. Participants will be able to claim these amazing rewards until the end of the event, which runs until January 11th.

In Reforged mode, when I play Dota map, the FPS drops too low (around 22.3) and the game is very lagging, hard to play (even I set all of settings are low and off already). Playing other maps are fine with 60 or higher FPS, only playing dota map, FPS drops and not stable.
Does anyone know how to keep FPS 60 or higher and stable when playing dota map?
Kind regards.
