By the end of chapter three Juana pleads with Kino to throw away the
pearl, "This thing is evil. This pearl is like a sin...It will
destroy us!"

Do you think the pearl is a blessing or a curse for Kino and Juana?

I think that the pearl is a curse. Because ever since Kino found the
pearl bad and mysterious things have happened. Like in the middle of
the night an unknown thing tried to steal the pearl. And now Kino has
to deal with the strange doctor that wants the pearl. I think that
kino should of kept the pearl to himself. Now Kino has to fear
everyone.
A reason the pearl is a curse is that Kino keeps hearing the evil
music. I think that the pearl is going to Kinos head and cause him to
eventually destoy his family. Kino will become greedy and it will
drive him thinking about what to buy , but not even thinking about it.
The curse will be caused by is own doing.

I think the pearl is both a blessing and a curse. The pearl is really
big, so Kino can sell it and buy many things. He can buy food and
clothing, but he can also buy luxuries like being married in the
church and sending Coyotito to school. Every time he looks at the
pearl he hears the music of promise and delight. Also, he has seen a
bright future in the pearl and made a plan for his future based on it.
Even though the pearl is a blessing, I think it is also a curse.
Everybody in the town is envious of Kino because they want the pearl.
They have made Kino their enemy. Also, Kino keeps hearing the music of
evil. The pearl may have a dark side that Kino doesn't know about yet,
maybe that is where the evil music is comoing from. In the middle of
the night, somebody came into Kinos house and tried to steal the
pearl. That is when Juana said the pearl was evil and it should be
thrown away. I think that the pearl is a curse that will be hard to
get rid of, but once the curse is over it will be a great blessing.

I don't think that the Pearl is blessing because even though it made
Kino and Juana's family more popular and rich, there were still
problems like people getting jealous of them. For one thing, everybody
in the story wants to have the pearl and askes questions and there are
also people there who try to steal the pearl too. Also Juana begged
Kino to throw the pearl away, but he dident so that could lead to some
problems with their familys, maybe when they all get what they want
they may also want some more at the same time too which could have
them to be more greed yat the same time.

I think the pearl is a blessing and a curse. It is a blessing because
Kino and Juana can do all the things they wanted to do. They can cure
Coyotito, give him an education and get him baptized. The can also get
married in a church and be accepted into the community. They will be a
"rich" family and will not be looked down on.
I also think the pearl is a curse. I think this because it has brought
unusual things to happen. Kino is hearing evil music and which means
bad things will happen and they do. First some mysterious thing tried
to steal the pearl. Also I think Kino is getting greedy, he wants
everything for his family and still wants to be rich. On the other
hand everyone wants the pearl and I think this situation will drive
people crazy.

I think that it is a curse because ever since Kino found the pearl
people have been talking about it and some people want to steal it
and one night someone broke in and tried to steal the pearl and Kino
got injuried and now the pearl is ruining the family.
The pearl is a blessing because now the doctor will help coyotito and
cure him of his socrpion wound. Also it will allow Kino and Juana to
get married properly.

I think that finding the pearl was both a blessing and a curse. It was
a blessing because it gave Kino and Juana hope when they needed it the
most because of their sick baby. It also gave Kino and Juana hope for
a positive future for Coyotito.
On the other hand it was a curse because it brought in the music of
evil and the song of the enemey. We saw this when Kino says that he is
starting to hear the "pounding music of the enemey." He heard this
music right before the doctor came. Now there was constant worry in
their home. Kino relates everything to music and song. This is very
important to him.
Juana wanted to get rid of the pearl. She thinks it will destroy their
family. By the end of the chapter, Kino and Juana are staring at the
pearl and they hear promising music and start to feel hope again.

Kino was very grateful to find the Pearl of the World. The pearl is a
blessing because Kino and Juana are poor, and to find this pearl they
will be rich. When they get the thousands of dollars in exchange for
the pearl they are going to be able to get so many things they need
and want. They will be able to send Coyotito to school and he will
learn how to read and write. Then Coyotito could teach Juana and Kino
how to read and write so they will have a lot more knowledge. Also,
Juana and Kino will be able to get officially married in a church, by
a priest. They will also be able to wear new clothes that are warm.
One more thing Kino will get is a Winchester carbine, which is a type
of rifle. The pearl also got the doctor to actually treat Coyotito's
scorpion bite because they could pay for it. If it wasn't for the
doctor Coyotito would be dead. The pearl is a huge blessing for Kino,
Juana, and Coyotito.

I think the pearl is a curse. So far it brought nothing but trouble.
The pearl was almost stolen by a thief and merchants try to purchase
it, claiming the pearl is fake. They also had to deal with the weird
doctor who wants the pearl.
I think the pearl is a curse to Kino. Kino is affected by it because
the pearl keeps playing "evil music" in his head. I think they should
just sell to merchants and get money to pay doctor instead of using
the pearl as an offering.

I believe that the pearl is a blessing from god. In their religion
they believe in a god and i believe that if that god didn't want them
to be blessed than their god would'nt have given them the pearl in the
first place. I believe that this is most likely a reward for all their
hard times like with Coyotito and other hard challenges they had to
face. I understand that if they use the pearl for the wrong things
then the pearl could turn into a sin and haunt them the rest of their
lives but if Kino and Juana use this pearl to help them and not do bad
things with it then they could live the rest of their lives in peace.
For example, when Kino says he will give Coyotito an education that is
something that won't hurt them in the future, but help their family
grow out of the poor lifestyle and progress until the family becomes a
nice, wealthy, family. That is why I think that the pearl is not a
sin, but a blessing to Kino, Juana, and Coyotito.

I believe that the pearl is a curse. The pearl has seemed to make the
villagers of his town very jealous. Also, the night when the anonymous
thing tried to get's it's hands on the pearl. Another reason the pearl
is a curse is because Kino has been hearing the evil music. The pearl
has made people want to sell Kino goods in exchange for the pearl. The
pearl is making Kino feel that he wants to destroy his family for some
reason. I feel that the pearl is ultimately a curse because nothing
good has come out of pearl presents except for possible greed in the
future. This pearl has givin Kino nothing besides bad mishaps.

I think that Juana is right, the pearl is a curse. One hint that it
is a curse is that throughout the third chapter almost every time the
pearl is brought up Kino hears that “evil song.” To me this is almost
an immediate hint that something bad is going to happen.
Another reason I think that the pearl is a curse is because it is
like someone winning the lottery. They might not know how to spend
their money wisely. From some one going from having no money to
millions is a huge step up an it comes with many responsibilities. I
think that Kino will not be able to handle the responsibilities and a
huge conflict will erupt within the town in which Kino lives in.

I think that the pearl is partially a blessing, and partially a curse.

I think the pearl is a curse because for starters, ever since he got
the pearl, people treat Kino different and special. Kino and his
family are getting tons of attention over a pearl that everyone is
dying to have. While people are envious of Kino, a real villian to
look out for is deffinately the doctor who could care less Coyotito's
condition until a pearl became involved. So when someone attempts to
steal the pearl, the doctor or someone who works for him immediately
popped into my head as the thief. Also, Kino keeps hearing evil music
which is unusual. Lastly, Kino states that he fears everyone.
Instead of letting everyone know about the pearl, Kino should have
kept it to himself(as NBadaracco4 said). He wouldn't have to worry
about anything and could have just told the doctor he had money.

I think it is a blessing because for some reason God intended for them
to find the pearl. Because the pearl is so large, it has brought Kino
and Juana hopes, dreams and desires for the future. Every time Kino
looks at the pearl, he hears promising music and sees a future he
would have never believed possible. They can buy food and clothing.
They can pay for their son to get better, pay for him to go to school
and get baptized, and they can get married in a church. It has
brought them so many opportunities that they have never been able to
dream of. I don't think that they would have gotten the pearl if in
the end it would only bring them back where they started, or worse.
So, while the pearl may be a curse right now, I have to disagree with
those who said that it will stay a curse forever. I think ultimately
in the end, the pearl will be a blessing.

I believe that the pearl is a curse for Kino and Juana. Ever since
Kino has found the pearl, strange music has filled his ears that, I
believe, will gradually warp his mind. In the middle of the night, an
unknown intruder entered his home and caused Kino to be mad with rage,
unlike his normal self. Juana has good reason to fear the pearl, for
it has a great wealth with it, so great for their little village of
people. The other villagers all know everything that goes on in each
others' lives and they know that Kino has this amazing pearl. All the
other villagers are obviously as poor, if not poorer, than Kino. They
too would want a better life for their children and their family.
What is to stop them from sneaking up and attacking Kino/Juana in the
middle of the night? Juana would be defenseless, as well as Coyotito,
and Kino could easily be overpowered.

Not only does the pearl place Kino and his family in danger of his
neighbors, it places him in danger of other people. The doctor, who
wouldn't help Kino before, immediately rushed to help him when he
heard of the pearl. The doctor is a well-educated man, something that
him and Kino both know. So when the doctor gives Coyotito a strange
powder, Kino is naturally suspicious. Then, Coyotito gets better
after the doctor 'nurses' him back to help. The doctor was also
looking for clues to where Kino might be hiding the pearl, so he could
get it. Although the pearl might seem like the true "Pearl of the
World" now, I believe that in the end it will throw his village into
chaos and ultimately ruin their lives. What man can truly resist a
temptation that holds the key to everything you wanted in your
future? How can they resist that temptation when it's living next
door in a neighbor's home? The pearl will never be a blessing, it
will only continue to destroy everything that Kino has. Juana is
right, Kino must throw away the pearl, before it's too late...

I believe that the pearl is a great thing for Kino and Juana, as long
as they control themselves and do not get greedy. The pearl is the key
to Coyotito's well being and life because it will give the family
money for the doctor. Kino needs to cash the pearl in soon so that he
won't need to deal with any more people trying to get it. Also Kino
needs to worry about his son right now, he keeps on talking about
buying nice things, getting married, but he's losing sight of the fact
that his son is dying from scorpion poison.
The pearl is also a bit bad because it is driving the whole
town against Kino's family, and making everyone jealous. The pearl is
messing with the 'family song' and Kino is going crazy with riches.
Also, KIno had to kill a man to keep his security and the pearl.

Although the pearl can be thought of as a blessing and a curse, for
now it is a curse. It is true that in the future it will bring many
good things such as a cure and an education for Coyotito and many
things for Kino and Juanna, but at what cost? Everyone is jealous of
the pearl and will stop at nothing to get it for themselves. You can
tell that that these people are willing to steal, trick, and fight for
all the things that this "magnificent" pearl can grant them. It will
be very difficult for Kino to protect the pearl without turning
corrupt and obsessed in the process. Wherever the pearl goes, the
music of evil follows and will surly bring bad things with it.

I think that it would be best for Kino to sell the pearl immediately,
so that he can stop the evil that it brings. But maybe the money that
Kino receives in exchange for the pearl would bring the same thing as
the pearl brings. If that happens, it would really be best for him to
throw it back into the ocean before something horrible happens. But if
Kino uses this solution, he will not be able to afford the welfare of
his family. Each solution comes with its own consequences. I think
that in the end, he will throw the pearl away to be done with its evil
forever.

I think the pearl is definitely a curse. It is "too good to be
true". SInce Kino has showed off his pearl of the world to everyone
things have happened that would have not normally happened. The
doctor comes and sees where the pearl is buried and later that night
and unknown person of creature starts to dig where the pearl is
buried. If Kino did not find this great pearl and say what great
things it would bring, many of these problems would never have
occurred.
The pearl is evil as Juana says and it will destroy there
family. It radiates a strong music of evil that fills Kino's head
whenever he holds it or is near it. Great treasure will bring great
greed and Kino will try and get the best for the pearl and he will not
realize that what he does is separating his family. He gets too
caught up in what he hopes the pearl will bring rather than what it
WILL bring. If I were Kino i would destroy the pearl or throw it
away.

I think that the pearl is a curse for Juana and Kino because everyone
is trying to steal it. Because their village is mostly poor the
entire village knows about the pearl. The pearl is also a curse
because a mysterious black figure comes into Kino and Juana's house
and tries to steal the pearl. Also when Kino tried to attack the
mysterious figure he was thrown to the ground and got hurt. I also
think the pearl is a curse because it is making even the rich people
in the wealthy town want to take the pearl.
For example the doctor that came to heal Coyotito, tricked Kino into
revealing where he had buried the pearl in his house. Also the doctor
asked if he could keep the pearl in his personal safe (he would
probably just take it). Then, there was the priest at the church who
kept telling Kino and Juana they needed to give thanks by donating to
the church. I think that the Pearl isn't a blessing because it is a
burden to bear although it would be a blessing if it wasn't for other
people.

The pearl was a blessing for Kino and Juana even after
Juana said, " This pearl is a sin! It will destroy us." The pearl
can
give Kino and Juana more of a blessing then a sin. The pearl can
provide money to get Kino and his family out of poverty. It can also
give them the power to send Coyotito to school so he can have what
Juana and Kino could not. They can learn what Coyotito learns if
they

Kino found a magnificantly beautiful pearl, so far in the story it has
brought some misfortune, but has also brought new respect to Kino and
his family. The pearl in the long test of time will be a great
blessing, if it is utilised in a proper manner. Kino will experience
many tests with his newfound wealth, the physical tests of facing
theifs, the doctor and the pearl buyers. He has already experienced
discrepencies with the pearl buyers when selling the pearl, with being
attacked in the night, and being swindled into the doctors treatment.
Kino will have to face the moral tests of what to do with his wealth,
to resist the temptation to be arrogant and selfish, for he dreams of
great things for his family and not much else. He must decide if he is
being cheated, and if so how far should he go to get a fair price.
Kino and Juana will face a large amount of adversity with the pearl,
Juana says the pearl is like a sin, when in reality it is like mana
from God, but they must remember even God tested his people before
providing them with nourishment. If Kino and Juana deal with the pearl
properly it will be a great gift, but if not it will currupt
themselves.

I think the pearl is a curse. Kino has to worry about keeping his
pearl safe so no one steals it. Everyone knows about his pearl and
how magnificent it is. Many of the people in his village are poor and
could be jealous of his pearl. A dark figure came into his house and
tried to steal his pearl. Kino, Juana and Coyotito can be attacked
because thieves could harm them just to get the pearl. Kino also hears
this evil song when he is near the pearl. Kino may become greedy
because of all the money he will have, but if he becomes too greedy,
he will spend all of his money and end up being in poverty again. He
might not even get a lot of money because the pearl buyers might try
to cheat him. Kino expected many great things from the pearl, but it
is slowly starting to destroy him and his family. He should throw the
pearl away before more unfortunate things occur.

Kino should definitely not throw away the pearl. It obviously has
tremendous value, the pearl buyers were just trying to cheat Kino into
giving away the pearl by claiming it was just an oddity not a real
pearl. I hope Kino has seen through their failed trickery and will go
to the capital to sell the pearl. The person that tried to steal the
pearl was not bad luck, that was an act of jealousy and Kino acted
harshly but appropriately. Once Kino travels to the capital, the pearl
buyers will be less deceptive and just buy the pearl for it's true
worth. Maybe then Kino's luck will turn.

I think The Pearl is a curse on Kino and his family. He is always ,
thinking about good fortune and everything that he ever wanted. But
that is not the case. Since Kino found the Pearl, a lot of ironic
things have happened. For example in the middle of the night the
people of his town tried to steal the pearl. And then another time

tells you that the pearl is cursed. As Kino gets greedy, he begins

The pearl is a curse more than it is a blessing. Although it may
bring great wealth and happiness if they are able to sell it, many bad
things have happened because of it. Many people are getting very
jealous about the pearl and trying to steal it. Something came in the
night and tried to take it and the doctor is becoming envious and is
thinking of stealing it. He tried to make Kino involuntary tell him
where the pearl was and succeeded when Kino quickly looked at the
pearl's hiding spot. The Pearl is more of a curse than a blesing.
