Hi, guys.

I believe Jacki is close to having a Metagov hosting space set up on
TuxFamily.org. As soon as that is ready, I would like to propose
migrating the Metagovernment wiki to Candiwi.

Can you tell me:

1. If you still believe Candiwi is up to the task
2. How we would go about transitioning. (ie, move Main Page first,
then others one by one?)
3. How Candiwi can get installed on the new host... preferably without
my doing it. :) That is, would one of you or Jacki be willing to do
the installation?

Thanks!

Ideally it would not be a subdomain... just a /wiki/ directory, because it is for the Metagov project not for Candiwi.

If the transition goes well, then I can simply re-point Metagovernment.org to that hosting account and have the wiki there be the website for Metagov.

Hi Ed,

Yes, the blog site is just about ready though I believe I will have to make a separate request for a candiwi subdomain.

I can look into the installation, and perhaps clarify the installation manual if necessary. I assume the members of this group can offer assistance if needed ?

Also, if anyone would like command-line or MySQL access to this server, you will want to create a tuxfamily.org account and add yourself to the metagovernment group. I am happy to offer assistance with this, though I am somewhat new to the tuxfamily process.

Thanks all.

I'm not entirely sure canidi is the appropriate software for the
metagov wiki. A wiki is characterised by as little friction to edit an
article as possible. So personally I don't feel it is quite up to the
task and I am not commited to further development atm. Possibly Fabe
can comment.

While I dont have much time at the moment to add bigger features I
will fix any bugs found and add smaller usability features when
requested. In about two months or so I will have more time to add
larger features like tagging and other stuff.
As for the setup I would recommend using the existing instance
at http://metagov.candiwi.org/ since I can fix and add stuff quickly their.

I am trying to get administration of Metagov resources out of my hands
(or any other single person). Which is why I promote the idea of
having it hosted on a shared, open resource like TuxFamily.

I can certainly sympathize with time-crunch (I also hope to have more
time in my life sometime after May or June).

How about if one of us does an install of the currently available
code? Then all you would have to do is set up a TuxFamily account and
Jacki could make you an admin. So you could update the code as you
please, but otherwise not have to do much. Would that be acceptable?

In any event, that's great news about development plans. Tagging
sounds essential to the overall project, and I would love to see how
it pans out.

Manuel, I support the idea of a wiki for the Metagov site because the
current wiki is sort of a free-for-all. There are a couple people
throwing a ton of new articles up there, almost using it as a platform
for their personal philosophy. I think it would be fine if the only
articles which were actually accepted were ones that had more than one
person agreeing to them.
