Dear Stakeholders,

After more than 20 years, NIST has decided to discontinue the Health IT Program. An official NIST reorganization takes effect on April 5, 2026, marking the end of the NIST Health IT Group.

To ensure an orderly shutdown, a transition period will run from April 5 to October 1, 2026. During this time it is anticipated that many tools and projects will transition to Prometheus Computing, LLC, which is establishing a new Health IT Division.  There will be no impact on locally-hosted instances of tools hosted by Authorized Testing Labs for certification.

Downloadable tools and source code will remain in the public domain and be available via a legacy website and NIST’s GitHub site.

More information (including updated links/URLs) will be provided as it becomes available.

Thank you for your interest in this work,

-Andrew McCaffrey
