I've read other posts concerning this topic; I followed the advice given and went through schema validation and cleaned up multiple errors.  Now the file, with one exception noted below, passes the "no test case" validation, but still crashes the tool when I select test case 1a.

I've attached a copy hoping that you can either figure out why the tool crashes, or tell me what's wrong with it.

The validation error concerns the Health Care Service Delivery Location code from line/row 240 of the spreadsheet for test case 1a.  The listed code, 1166-8, is not in either my local copy of the value set, or on the Value Set Authority's site. My local copy of the value set, and also the VSA's copy, have code 1243-5 listed with the name "Ambulatory Surgery Center".

Thanks for your  help,

Leonard

Leonard,

I will have our developer take a look to figure out what’s causing the crash and get back to you.

As for the Health Care Service Delivery Location code, I’ll have to look a little deeper into what’s going on there. Our IG inherited that value set, including the individual values listed, directly from the CCDA IG, so it’s possible they had an error that they have since fixed. In the meantime, please ignore the error, and if I find out that it is a mistake in the IG, then I think we’ll be able to instruct testers to ignore it until we’re able to make the update.

Thank you,

Wendy

After a week or so of not receiving any further replies, I tried again to solve the problem:

1st, I stripped out about half of the sections - still crashed.  Removed the remaining sections - still crashed; started removing header components one at a time, starting with the recordTarget - no crash; lots of "you need this" errors.

Replaced the recordTarget - crashed; started modifying the recordTarget and, after several iterations, found that it crashed when we sent "UNK" for the patient's phone number.  It seems that a previous version of either the cancer report or the previous version's testing tool didn't like sending null when no phone number but it would take UNK.

After resolving the phone number issue I as able to proceed with testing.

Leonard,

My apologies for the delay. Our developer has been looking at it, but we have several competing priorities. He did find the cause of the issue to be the “UNK” value in telecom, just as you indicated. I don’t recall the tool having an issue with null flavor on telecom in the past, but if it did, I did confirm that it is now handling it correctly, so the valid fix would be to use null flavor on telecom when it’s unknown: <telecom nullFlavor="UNK"/>.

We will provide a fix in a future update to the tool to prevent it from crashing when invalid formats are provided for telecom; it will instead return an error message since this is an invalid format.

Thanks,

Wendy
