Colleagues,
Since its inception, the Cancer Center Informatics Society (Ci4CC)—guided by the leadership of numerous Directors of CCSG-funded Informatics Shared Resources - has been instrumental in advancing cancer center informatics through focused symposia, workshops, and multi-institutional collaborations.
While the Society’s original working group centered on elevating the strategic role of Data Science and Informatics across all Core Facilities and Shared Resources, Ci4CC has clearly evolved over the past decade to reflect the expanding impact of deep learning and advanced analytics and technology in precision oncology. Today, the field spans not only Electronic Medical Records and Clinical Trials Management Systems, but also Genomics, Pathology Informatics, Imaging Informatics, Translation Research, Radiation Oncology, Artificial Intelligence, and more. From biomarker discovery and diagnostics to therapeutic decision support, we are witnessing how AI is reshaping oncology research and care.
At the 23rd Cancer Center Informatics Society Summit in May 2025, I officially launched exploring a foundational partnership with the National Alliance of Cancer Center Shared Resources (NACCSR). This marks the first national network of NCI-Designated Cancer Centers to form a multi-institutional alliance focused on the future of Shared Resources, with particular emphasis on the practical and educational challenges of Data Science and AI integration within cancer centers.
