Dear Society,
It is with tremendous pride and genuine joy that I have the opportunity to share this special feature and tribute to a true giant in oncology. Recently aired here in California, it honors someone many of you know very well, Dr. Steven Rosen. While this piece beautifully captures his extraordinary career and lifelong contributions to cancer research and patient care, it represents only a small glimpse of the remarkable legacy he has built and the countless lives he has touched throughout his distinguished career.
This story captures only a small glimpse of Dr. Rosen’s extraordinary career as a physician scientist, visionary NCI-Designated Cancer Center leader, and compassionate clinician. His groundbreaking contributions to cancer research and patient care have transformed countless lives, and his legacy continues to shape the future of oncology every single day. While this feature beautifully highlights his accomplishments, it only begins to tell the story of the profound impact he has had across our field and on the patients and families he has dedicated his life to serving.
On a personal note, Warren and I have both had the distinct privilege of working under Dr. Rosen’s leadership at different points in our cancer center careers. We can both say without hesitation that having the opportunity to learn from and work alongside him has been one of the greatest honors and defining highlights of our professional lives.
Beyond his extraordinary accomplishments, Dr. Rosen is simply an exceptional human being, a incredible mentor, an inspiring leader, a best friend, and one of the strongest supporters of the Cancer Center Informatics Society. We are especially fortunate to have him serve as Chair of our Scientific Advisory Board, where his wisdom, vision, and unwavering commitment continue to guide our mission.
