The Cancer Center Informatics Society extends its congratulations to two leading cancer centers on the appointment of new directors, marking an important moment in advancing innovation, leadership, and impact across the oncology ecosystem.
Fox Chase Cancer Center has announced the appointment of Robert A. Winn, MD, as its next Director. Dr. Winn is widely recognized for his transformative leadership, most recently at VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center, where he led the center to National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center designation. Known for pioneering community-engaged research models and advancing health equity, Dr. Winn brings a powerful vision for integrating discovery, clinical care, and population health to drive meaningful improvements in cancer outcomes.
At the same time, Dartmouth Cancer Center has appointed Roy S. Herbst, MD, PhD, as its sixth Director. A globally recognized leader in lung cancer research and translational science, Dr. Herbst brings an extraordinary track record in clinical innovation, biomarker-driven trials, and academic-industry collaboration. He will assume his role on July 13, leading efforts to further integrate research, education, and clinical care across Dartmouth and Dartmouth Health, while expanding access to advanced therapies and clinical trials. His leadership is expected to further elevate Dartmouth’s national presence in precision oncology and translational discovery.
These appointments reflect a broader national momentum toward strengthening cancer center leadership with individuals who embody the convergence of data science, clinical innovation, and collaborative ecosystems, principles that are central to Ci4CC’s mission of turning data into knowledge, and knowledge into health.
