I would like to say that I am definitely interested in displaying my aviation artwork and would certainly welcome a juried selection. I am presently working on some specific pieces for this upcoming CAAA event. Please do keep me informed as to when I should submit any of my paintings for consideration to the venue from September to November.

Hi!

Plans to hold an Aviation Art Vernissage at the same time the CAHS are
having their conference are proceeding well. We now have an
institutional sponsor that wants the aviation art display to remain in
place from September to early November in order to cover all of the
cruise ship visiting period. Till now, I had received expression of
interest from three or four local artists. However, this change of
plans will probably attract the participation of more artists and we
are considering a juried exhibition, or at least one that would be by
invitation only.

Are there some blog members out there who would be interested in
providing me insights and advice in this regard?

Best regards,

Wes,

Thanks for your notice of interest in the Aviation Art Exhibition we are planning to run in conjunction with the CAHS Annual Conference now being readied for early September, 2012.  The Aviation Art Exhibit is being co-sponsored by the New Brunswick Museum and here are the main points of the guidelines they are proposing:
  • The Aviation Art Exhibit will be on display to CAHS members and NBM visitors during normal viewing hours from Wednesday, September 6 until Monday, November 4, 2012.
  • The New Brunswick Museum will provide a clean and well-maintained exhibition space – Turnbull and Sullivan’s Bar. Exhibition Centre – Market Square.
  • The NBM will install the exhibition in a professional manner to ensure quality and a consistent level of interpretation for visitors throughout.
  • The NBM will insure the artwork while it remains on the premises.
  • Delivery dates: August 13 to 20th; no artwork deliveries accepted after August 20.
  • Installation dates- Sept 4, 2012- TBC
  • Exhibition dates September 6 – November 4, 2012
  • De-installation date: November 5, 2012
  • Shipping date: by November 9, 2012.
  • Artwork will be suitably framed for display.
  • Artwork will be suitably wired or have D hooks for hanging or works will not be displayed.
  • The exhibition ends Nov. 4 and will be de-installed on Nov 5th and shipped out by November 8th.
  • Artist will provide suitable packaging for the return shipment of the artwork.
  • Shipping charges to and from the New Brunswick Museum will be the responsibility of the artist.
At the moment, points still under consideration include the issue of a jury-ed exhibit & the total number of art pieces that will be displayed. The National Aviation Museum has kindly consented to loan some artwork from their collection for this display but we do not know how many pieces are involved yet.

Your comments and suggestions on any item above are certainly welcome.

A definitive version of the guidelines will be available by mid-May at the latest.

My best regards,

Pierre Vachon
