Hi Cananglers,

Bruce has asked me to write and fill you in and bring you up to date as to the “move Canang to Facebook or not move Canang to FB” decision.

Reviewing the comments that have come his way, Bruce has decided that a move to Facebook at this time is in order.  So, to that end, he and I have been working the past couple of days to set up “Canadian Anglicans” on Facebook and it's now "up and running."  Whew!   :-)

For those of you already on FB, joining "Canadian Anglicans" will be easy and very straightforward (directions below).  For those of you not already on FB (or on FB, but not using it often or at all), let me reassure you that it’s not difficult to set get onto FB - nor is it difficult to maintain a safe and secure presence there.  Directions for you are also below.

Facebook is a great place to network, connect with family/friends/colleagues/former classmates etc.  It's also a great place to get involved in special interest groups (political, art-related, religious, craft-oriented, sports-focused, travel, geographical, etc.).

The FB “Canadian Anglicans” group is now up-and-running.   Bruce and I will be the Administrators of the group so if anyone has problems, you’ve got two of us to contact but we’re not anticipating any problems.  :-)   Okay - now to the directions:

Joining Facebook

  • Go to www.facebook.com
  • Enter your name, birthday, gender and email address
  • Pick a password
  • After you complete the sign-up form, FB sends an email to the email addie you provided.  Click the confirmation link to complete the sign-up process and voila!  You now have a presence on Facebook … but you don’t have a “profile” yet so you can’t easily be located on FB.  You now need to create a FB Profile.  Here’s how:
    http://www.wikihow.com/Create-a-Facebook-Profile
  • Most important thing … spend a few moments in the Settings (Privacy/Account) file and make certain you’re okay with the default settings. If not, change them accordingly.
  • Put in as much (or as little) personal information as you want.  Feel free to have a look at my Profile page and click on “About.” ... clicking on the "About" lets you learn something something *about* a person or a group you’ve joined.

Joining “Canadian Anglicans”

Two ways:

  1. Send either Bruce or myself a request and we can subscribe you
  2. Do a search for the group (in the white rectangular section within the blue bar at the top of the page) … type in “Canadian Anglicans”.   When it pops up on your screen (you’ll see a little note that says it’s an “open group”and when it pops up on your screen, double-click on it.  That will take you to the actual page.  To join the group … click “Join Group” ---- near the top under the photos of those already subscribed to the group.  That action sends a note to Bruce and to me as well.  When the next one is on-line, we’ll see it and subscribe you.  And, voila!  :-)

We know this move to FB may be a stretch for some and while it wasn’t an easy decision, we’re both here to do what we can to help make the transition as easy as possible.   So, if you have any questions, feel free to send either of us an email: bga...@tanglewood-cottage.ca
ju...@soulistry.com

Oh - if there is ever an instance where either of us needs to troubleshoot the FB "Canadian Anglicans" group page, it would be a big help if we could PM (Personal Message) you directly on FB.  To enable that, it would help to be your FB *friend*.  If you’re not already a FB friend with both of us, please send us a request so we can make that happen.  And, if you don’t know how to do that - here’s how:

Creating a FB ‘friend’

http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Friends-on-Facebook

Or … you can locate both of us (and anyone for that matter) on FB simply by typing in the person’s name in the same place as step #2 above. If they’re on FB, they’ll show up.  :-)  Once you’re on their Profile page, you’ll see (near the top on the right) a white box with “Add Friend” inside.  Click on that.  FB then sends a request to that person and when they accept your request, you are now their FB friend.  :-)

Whew!   TMI (Too Much Information) for sure for some folk, but hopefully, it’s not overwhelming and you’re willing to give it a try.  We look forward to your presence on Canadian Anglicans - and that of your colleagues and friends, so feel free to let people know about the existence of Facebook's "Canadian Anglicans."

See you on Facebook.

Blessings,

Bruce,

The Facebook search was sending me in all directions. I found the group through Bruce's page.

So for those who have a problem with Facebook search, here is the direct link to join
(once you have a valid Facebook profile):
https://www.facebook.com/groups/cananglist/

******************

In case it is seen, I will be updating the http://canang.ca page to redirect inquiring people to the Facebook page.
Do you have an official date to close the current list?

Regards,

Regina Berens
