Subject: Very Important Message from The Chair of the Pension Committee re solvency

Dear Bishops:

In late July I wrote to each of the active, retired and inactive members of The General Synod Pension Plan to ask them to vote on the issue of solvency funding exemption.

I am concerned that our “Active” members’ response rate has not been as high as we would like. This may be due to vacation issues. However, we need everyone to vote.

The Pension Office staff have been trying to contact those who have not voted (we know who has voted but not how they voted) to encourage them to return their ballots.

Now, I need your help. Would you immediately email or otherwise contact the members of The General Synod Pension Plan in your Diocese and remind them that it is vitally important that they vote, now . We must be able to demonstrate to the Government of Ontario the will of the members. If members have lost their ballots we can send them another. If members have questions, the Pension Office would be glad to discuss them.

The voting is scheduled to conclude by September 6. We need every vote. Time is of the essence.

I am grateful for your support and I look forward to seeing you in Quebec City at the October House and Spouse.
