Dear friends:

The day is fast approaching! Sunday June 23 will be my last day at St. Matthew’s, and my last day in stipendiary ministry. Henceforth, I will be able to do what I choose…

I will have another e-mail address in due time, but for the moment, I am asking correspondents to change my address to robin_wa...@outlook.com.

Quote from Robin:

"Henceforth, I will be able to do what I choose…"

And then I woke up and discovered I was only dreaming.

How many seniors does it take to change a light bulb?  Only one, but it takes all day.  I have learned the truth of this bit of humour from experience.

What I also learned is I no longer have weekends off, or any other day for that matter, and long weekends are definitely a thing of the past; along with annual vacations.  However, enjoy the dream as long as you can; and then take a course in "simplifying life 101".

Best wishes on your new adventure.

Bruce

Thanks, Bruce:

The quote arose from a meeting I had with the Bishop of Edmonton a few weeks ago, who said that from now on I will be able to do the ministry I choose to do, and not what other people tell me I have to do. And that’s a good thing! I can say “no” with total freedom.

Congratulations, Robin.  You have been a light to many of us; may you long continue to be so as you choose what comes next.
Mary.

Thank you, Mary, for saying what Robin has also been to me--a light!

Robin, please consider coming to Bangkok, and learning about the church here, in Burma-Myanmar, and other places.

There are not many Anglicans in Thailand, but I can introduce you (and other canang visitors) to ecumenical and interfaith individuals and communities, and offer hospitality--a bed and meals--at no cost.

Peace and all good.

Good luck Robin I hope you enjoy your retirement. In six months you will
wonder how you found time to work.

A long weekend --drive all day Saturday for three services on Sunday and
drive back on Monday.

Oh, how well put!
