In Kamloops, (besides zero interest loans from members to the space), not really. We have had a pretty good relationship with the local KMS tools, and they have shown us some love with old floor models of stuff for donation. Usually we try to buy other stuff we need from there. There has been talk of financing some fancy dust collection solutions with them, and they will likely give us a cut on some of it when we do. This is something we will probably go ahead with in the near future.
We try to throw out a lot of love on social media, and with signage in the shops. If you are considering financing something, see if you can do it with a longterm strategic partner, and try to provide added value for them. They will usually come to the table. They might even waive financing fees for some small signage on the machine.
There may be deeper philosophical implications, but I would be okay with a makerspace looking something like a nascar event, if it means that the lights are on, the doors are open, and the shop is decked out to suit it.
