For those who don't know who Karla Homolka or Paul Bernardo are, simply
type one of their names into a google news search and you will get
plenty of information. In any case, Bernardo is in for life and
considered a dangerous offender and will not likely see the light of
freedom again. (so I'm not sure why we don't just execute him)

Karla Homolka, on the other hand, struck an awesome deal before the
truth about her involvement could come out. Karla claimed to be an
abused wife suffering from the "syndrome". After testifying, her deal
give her 12 years which she served in a room of her very own away from
all rough criminals. Our justice system seen fit to protect poor Karla
from the violent criminals. Not to mention, while in prison, Karla
somehow managed to have a 3-year lesbian affair Lynda Veronneau and
exchange underwear with a male convicted of murdering his
wife.(Jean-Paul Gerbet)

Homolka not only got 12 years of room and board at taxpayers expense,
but she also a university education at taxpayers expense as well. And
she became bi-lingual. Not to mention, from what I understand anyway,
convicts who spend extended amounts of time in prison, also get a
one-time chunk of money handed to them for chores/jobs they did while
in prison. (from who else but us the taxpayers again) This was her
punishment for her crimes.

What did she do? For those who don't know Homolka, she assisted her
husband in feeding her little sister drug-laced booze and then they
took turns sexually abusing (vaginally and anally) her until she choked
on her own vomit and died. After that, Bernardo brought teenager Leslie
Erin Mahaffy (July 1, 1976-June 14, 1991) home and Karla helped
sexually abuse and torture her as well. When it came time to go to a
family gathering, Homolka convinced her husband that the girl had to
die. After all, Mahaffy had seen both their faces by now and would
surely go to the police. So they proceeded to cut Mahaffy's body into
pieces and stick her body parts into cement and drop her into Gibson
Lake. Karla and Paul were married on June 29, 1991 the very same day
Mahaffy's body was found. Karla had gone as far as bringing home "Jane
Doe" and feeding her drug-laced booze and the pair did their thing with
her on, at least, two occasions. Jane Doe, because she could not
remember a thing while unconscious, was allowed to leave the Bernardo
home alive. By now, they had become such a team that Homolka decided
to help Bernardo get the next teen. She and Bernardo lured Kristen Dawn
French (May 10, 1976-April 16, 1992) into their car by asking for
directions. They then had their fun with French in much the same way as
they did with Mahaffy. Again, French had seen their faces and they had
already decided she would die once they were done with her. Not
bothering to dress French, they shaved off her hair and forced French
to eat it. Once done with French they dropped her naked body into a
ditch.

Only after, Homolka herself was abused by Bernardo did Karla decide she
had enough. She then struck up the deal which ended up giving her two
lesser charges of Manslaughter (as she was able to convice the justice
system that she was scared for her life and suffered from some battered
wife's syndrome.

Karla is now free and walking our streets again. Albeit, she has some
strict limitations placed on her, we have no guarantee she will not
offend again. Karla need only stay out of trouble for one year and our
justice system will no longer be watching her and she will have all
limitations lifted. One year from now, she could potentially be living
right next door to the families of the victims if she wanted to and
there is nothing anyone in Canada can legally do about it. She could
stand in front of their house and look into their living room just to
haunt them should she desire to do so.

Someone online wrote that we should just let her be. That there have
been others who have committed heinous crimes and we're not watching
them. So why Karla? Well, if that isn't the lamest agrument in defense
of Karla Homolka that I have yet to hear. The fact is, we should have a
team of people who are dedicated to watching anyone and everyone who
have committed such crimes. I don't think anyone should be totallly
free to roam anywhere they wish after murdering people in cold blood.
Will the victims families heal over time? Will we all forget Karla
Homolka? Paul Bernardo? There will come a day when they will be
forgotten for sure, but it's not today and it's not tommorrow. In fact,
it will not likely be in my life-time (or least until I am too old to
keep my memory and perhaps when I have gone senile). Karla Homolka is a
beast and The Beast Has Been Released.
