Great AMURT / AMURTEL service n Ottawa.
Baba
Namaskar,
We did some special service today. By Baba's grace, we were able to deliver a motorized wheelchair to a Syrian refugee man whose right leg was withered by polio when he was just one year old. He has been using arm crutches, which was extremely difficult for him.
We had been asked by his sister in law if we could help this man. He and his mother live with his brother, wife and 3 girls.
He was so happy, and his mother couldn't stop thanking us, giving her blessings on us and saying how after so many years, they family feels safe.
She then told the story of the last 3 1/2 years on the run, first in Syria, moving from place to place. The government soldiers would come to a house, take away the men and teenage boys from a family and they were never heard of again, presumed dead. Two of her sons and one grandson disappeared this way. They had felt no need to move and paid the price. They were probably named during the torture of a neighbour who was threatened with death unless he named others who opposed the Al- Assad regime. Even though they did nothing wrong they likely were named by someone under threat. Sometimes the soldiers would come to a family home, ask the mother to select which child they will kill or else they would kill them all. In Lebanon, they lived for years - 12 people in just one room. They feel that this place is like heaven, everyone so helpful and nice. It is a credit to the
Canadian Immigration Service to accept someone who will be depending heavily on the health system.
She said that he would like to get married to a Canadian girl now. We will see if we can help him with that. I jokingly asked Fadwa if we should post his profile on one of the dating websites. Fadwa took pictures of him in his new chair. I will send them as soon as I get them from Fadwa.
In His Service,
Gaunga
