Hi folks,

I found this group following a link from Makerbot's tweet. I don't
have a Reprap *yet* but I have been following the Darwin and now
Mendel development closely, as well some of the ceramic printing out
of Washington.

I'll lurk here a bit and try to learn from others' experience as much
as I can. I am located in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island.

Cheers, -Lonn

Hey Lonn,

As you no doubt gathered, traffic on this list is minimal. :-)

For general makerbot-centric discussions, the most active place is the
makerbot google group.

I'm over here in Ottawa.

Andrew.

Greetings Andrew and Lonn,

Seems I'm in between in Calgary. I've started pulling parts together
for the Cartesian Bot as I'm figuring that's the "from scratch" place
to start as finding a reprap owner that can make a set of parts for me
in Canada has been a bit of a fools errand. The extruder sure seems
to be the key piece in a lot of the discussions and blogs though.
Any thoughts on the best way to put that bit togethers? The barrel
with a high-temperature resistor on it and an end nut rather than the
wire wrapped on copper and all that sure seems more elegant and
reliable, although few people seem ready to really say anything is the
way to start with for a new setup.

Hey Johnny,

If you're able to make it, I'm bringing my Makerbot out to the Ottawa
Robotics Enthusiasts gathering at the Woodroffe campus tomorrow
evening (7pm).

Details here: http://www.ottawarobotics.org/meeting.shtml

Defiantly going to be there! Wow what are the odds! I'm still really
new to the whole thing. Loike so new I'm learning how to code right
now while I scrounge up enough cash to buy my first arduino lol. been
researching for about a year now and the makerbot is defiantly
something I was very interested in pursuing.

Hey all - I'm just building my MakerBot (well, trying to get my
steppers, errr, ... stepping). I live in Calgary and would love to
chat w/ other maker types in our Great White North.

Hello all,

I've been meaning to make my introduction on this list for a while.
Makerbot #56, Montreal. Any other Québec-ers with Makerbots out there?

dnaworks --- Another westerner in Calgary! Huzzah! I've only started getting the pieces purchased for the CartesianBot at this point, figuring that's a stepping stone to the full MakerBot. Happy to chew the fat on the efforts if you care to.

Hi All,
I'm in Calgary Too.
I have a makerbot built although have had some problems with the
PTFE Barrier, just waiting for a replacemnt, although industrial
plastics by chinook has it in stock usually, but not currently. I'm
hoping to get this thing running so I can start printing mendel parts.

I've got a couch, but I need PLA! ;)

But Calgary is much nicer NOT in the winter.

Well it's working now. I'm using the PEEK thermel barrier now.
Hopefully with some cable clamps and some copper tube I'll be able to
get these PTFE ones functioning.

In general, when you're using gmail, you won't see your own posts,
unless somebody replies to them. They' get tagged as "Sent Items", and
as soon as somebody replies then it becomes a conversation. I think
gmail detects the message that you sent as being identical to the one
tagged in "Sent Items" and drops the reference to it.

Consider this a "feature" of gmail.
