Hi,

The current file dialog is not keyboard friendly yet. I know it's just a
first version, and also the issues I list below depend to some extent on
the dialog template provided by the library.

Here you are the issues I found:

1) The only way to go to the upper level is a button. There's no ".."
directory in the list, and the BackSpace key does not work for that.

2) The Home and End keys can not be used to move on the file list.

3) The alphanumeric keys don't move the focus to the first file or
directory having that initial char. Other dialogs let incremental match,
but the initial is enough in most cases.

4) Finally, the dialog changes its size on the fly, depending on the
length of the filenames currently listed. Maybe the problem is my
Ratpoison window manager, but the fact is the old size window does not
dissapear, and I see a stack of dialogs. I'll investigate this.

I'm sorry to hear about these problems and will have a think to see what
I can do. The first three problems make it a pain, but not unusable,
from a keyboard using tab, shift-tab, space bar and holding the initial
letter key for a bit longer to skip to a file beginning with that
letter. My greater worry is the fourth problem as this would make it
unusable, it must have something to do with Ratpoison, however that is
no answer at all and I will look into it.

Thank you for the tip. I didn't try to hold the keys longer.

Don't worry about this specific problem. The dialog is usable. Sometimes
the old size dialog remains on the background, that's all. I will
investigate it myself. Maybe I can get a clue from other Ratpoison
users.
