Welcome to the Canadian Book Arts List!

The Canadian Book Arts List was created to improve communication within the bookbinding, book arts, letterpress printing, printmaking, and book conservation community in Canada. Anyone who is part of the Canadian community is welcome to post to the group. This group is meant as a safe place to share opportunities, discuss issues, and ask questions - be kind to one another.

Please use this group to raise issues, ask questions (including questions about materials, methods, treatments...), share job/internship opportunities, share research, connect with one another, etc. We ask that workshop and event postings be located in Canada or online.

This group is not associated with any institution or organization. It was formed on the independent initiative of a group of book and paper artists. [Current managers: Andrew Huot & Robin Canham]

Le groupe The Canadian Book Arts List a été créé dans le but d’améliorer la communication entre les relieurs, artistes du livre et restaurateurs de livres oeuvrant au Canada. Toute personne faisant partie de cette communauté est invitée à y participer. Le groupe se veut un endroit inclusif où partager différentes opportunités, discuter de problèmes et poser des questions de façon respectueuse. Les questions sur les matériaux, méthodes et processus y sont les bienvenues. Veuillez aussi l’utiliser pour réseauter, partager toute offre d’emploi ou de stage et projets de recherche. Les évènements et ateliers affichés doivent avoir lieu au Canada ou en ligne. To post a new message, answer in an existing thread or click "New topic" (in red in the top left corner) or "New Conversation" (top left corner), depending on which version of Groups you are using. You can also post in an existing conversation by "replying all" to emails from the group, or email can_book_arts_list@googlegroups.com to start a new conversation.

The Canadian Book Arts List is a mailing list group: it is an email list that allows users to post from the web or through email. You will receive messages posted to the group to the email address you used to register. You can edit your notification preferences by following these steps:

Visit the Google Groups homepage when in your email
Click on "My Groups"
Choose the email delivery option that you prefer for your group from the drop-down menu and save your change:

Don’t send email updates
Send daily summaries
Send combined updates (25 messages per email)
Send me an email for every new message

OR

Go to this group's homepage (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/conservation-distlist-canada) - that's where you probably are now, and click on "My settings" in the top right corner (in the old Groups version) or on "My membership settings" on the left side of the screen (in the newer version)
Click on "Membership and email settings"
Choose the email delivery option that you prefer for your group from the drop-down menu and save your change:

How to join a group without a Gmail address

If you don't have a Gmail address, you can still join groups. You need to associate your email address with a Google Account. If you:

Don’t have a Google Account—Create a Google Account without changing your email address
Have a Google Account—Sign in to your Google Account with another email address

Google groups are not the most intuitive but they work well - give it a chance and learn to use it. Email the owner if issues arise. bigriverbindery@gmail.com
