Ok, so you're not a soloist, but do you like to sing with a group of
people? You want to learn to sing better? For a couple of weeks now, I
have been posting messages recruiting singers. Maybe we caught your
eye, but you're not sure if we're for you, and you don't want to call in
case we're some weird cult looking for fresh meat or something. Well...
We are the Northern Stars - a men's a cappella group, based in Nepean,
Ontario, Canada, and we are accepting new members for the month of
January, 2001. Come out any Monday night, from 7:15 - 10 pm. We sing in
4 part harmony, a capella. We really enjoy singing a wide variety of
music styles - uptunes and ballads, contemporary, gospel, broadway
showtunes, barbershop, even some of your favourites from the 50's, 60's,
and 70's.
There is no formal "audition" but I will have to hear your voice to
determine what section in which you should be placed (bass, baritone,
lead, or tenor).
If you're nervous about singing, or just plain skeptical, then you
should know that singing in a big group of guys is VERY different from
trying to carry it all by yourself - less intimidating and more fun!
Just come out and have a listen - see what we're about. If it's not for
you, no hard feelings!
If you are "a singer", I promise that we will keep it interesting for
you - quartets, vocal exercises, quality instruction, opportunities to
help teach, whatever it takes to keep you - the member - happy.
If you think you might be interested, please get back to me, and I'll
respond with directions.
Thank you - I really hope to see you there.
Sincer'lead,
Tony

An idea whose time has come?
Or hopefully never will?
