Do you have corn in gas tank ... probably?

What is everybody doing with their boats for winter storage? It seems there are a few options:

- Make sure there is no ethanol in your gas (Shell says their V-power gas is ethanol free)

- Drain your gas tank before storing

- Ignore the fact and hope for the best

Has any one used the new “Marine Formula STA-BIL Ethanol Treatment”?

Can anyone find it?

I have been told (translated: I don’t have any facts) that it costs more to get the corn out of the fields and processed than what the farmers are getting thus the government is subsidizing the production of ethanol.

Below is a link to an article describing the downfall factors of ethanol for boaters.

The ONLY fuel for cars commercially is ETHANOL, whether it be grain, animal/fossil based or not. Methanol is not in large enough production so it's chiefly used in medicine, funny cars and formula one cars. The cost of methanol is 6 times that of ethonal at present. If you doubt the price, go and buy some. A litre at present costs around $6.00. Shell V-Power contains no DRY grain additives. The reason is their other fuel dries out seals, gaskets and eats injectors. After nearly 260 million in payouts to vehicle damages, they now put out their OLD fuel and call it new, just like Coke Classic scam, if your old enough to remember. Shell isn't the 5th largest corporate entity on Earth for given away ANYTHING. The are one of the greediest companies with tons a poor ethical practices. You clearly need to get your facts right, before posting bullshit. Not to mention ALL regular unleaded fuel sold in Canada and the USA must be the exact same molecule under the law. Only mid grade or premium can have additives and what fool is filling his boat with 200 gallons of premium unleaded? The cost would be unreal.

Well if you have one of those tiny outboard boats. Just drain the tanks into your car. If it's a full sized real boat, just leave her in the water, as the motion of the water keeps the fuel mixed and not separating which is what stabilizers claim to do (no evidence to date). In reality, it actually takes over 2 years for gasoline type fuels to separate. The oil companies claim 90 days, but knowing the physic of petroleum, that they are only trying to upsell fuel. At worst all you'll need is more methanol to suppress any water from condensation when you start her up, which stabilizers won't cure either. Lets face it, oil companies aren't very honest.
