Some "liberal" American shrinks say that the cause of Hasan's terrorism was
that he was "mentally deranged" or was high on some kind of drug.
But that is silly. One could argue that anyone who is is a fundamentalist
Muslim is mentally deranged as Islam is such a crazy ideology. As for Muslim
fanatics being on drugs before suicide attacks well that has a long
history. The word assassin originally meant "hashish eater" as
the American Heritage dictionary defines the original assassin as "member of
a secret band of hashish-eating Muslims who killed Christian leaders
during the Crusades". More recently during and after the Spanish-American
war the Muslim Moro rebellion (1889-1913) against American forces in the
Philippines brought about frequent Moro suicide attacks. The Muslim Moro
suicide attackers were so frenetically hyped on drugs that the U.S. army was
forced to adopt a more potent hand gun , the .45 caliber, in order stop
them. [ There was an excellent Hollywood movie made
on this event that I first saw in my youth--I believe it was "The Real
Glory" (1939) starring Gary Cooper].

More babble. There is no evidence that "the left" is responsible for
any of this nonsense and military authorities trump the right wing rag
Telegraph (owned by Fox New's Murdoch) when they say there is no
evidence of terrorism behind the slayings.

You're just another raving right wing kook who is drooling over the
tragic deaths of innocent people and lamely attempting to leverage it
a canard against your unseen, monolithic "leftist" enemies.

You need psychiatric help.

Did you also blame Muslims for these fragging deaths as well?

I doubt it.

Between 1969 and 1971, the Army reported 600 fragging incidents that
killed 82 Americans and injured 651, according to the Associated
Press. In 1971 alone, there were 1.8 fraggings for every 1,000
American soldiers serving in Vietnam, not including gun and knife
assaults.

Such incidents have dropped dramatically. But in recent years there
have been several incidents in the United States and Iraq. As tallied
by NBC News and the Associated Press, they include:

- May 11, 2009: Five soldiers shot dead at Camp Liberty in Baghdad by
Sgt. John Russell.

- Sept. 8, 2008: Spc. Jody Michael Wirawan shoots himself to death
after killing 1st Lt. Robert Bartlett Fletcher at Fort Hood.

- Feb. 25, 2008: Dustin Thorson, an Air Force technical sergeant,
fatally shoots his son and daughter at home on Tinker Air Base in
Oklahoma in domestic dispute with ex-wife. He had been diagnosed with
post-traumatic stress disorder after returning from Iraq.

- June 7 2005: Two National Guard officers are killed by a grenade at
headquarters in Tikrit. Staff Sgt. Alberto Martinez is later acquitted
of murder in a court-martial.

- Oct. 27, 1995: Sgt. William Kreutzer goes on shooting spree at Fort
Bragg, killing one and injuring 18 in a sniper attack during
formation. He is serving a life sentence after a death sentence was
overturned.

'Zactly. "Muslims" gotta get themselves deranged in order to commit
murder and mayhem... just like everyone else. Takes a shitload
of Hashish. Rajputs used it before battle to numb the post-traumatic
stress. Vikings ate spotty mushrooms before going "bare-back" into
battle. And of course there's nothing like a little "Dutch Courage"
before going "up and over".

Even Fundies have their limits, and need a little help "breaking free"
of the context of their actions.

Terrorism, as in "Politically Motivated Violence"? Only in the general
sense that the rest of the fraggings you mention are a by-product of
the sanctioned political violence that a standing army motivated to
war represents.

Perhaps, but not near as bad as when Bush / Cheney and the Republicans
allowed the 9/11 attacks by failing to stop them.

Another example of how the Republican's self proclaimed perfection and
flawlessness failed to materialize.

if it was poltically motivated, that makes it an act of war, and part of
the current war, not a terrorist act. Or maybe it was just the act of a
man whose job had pushed him beyond his limits.

Nice attempt at spamming, by the way.

Furtherless, a terrorist hits a high-value, charismatic target,
intending to humiliate their enemy and provoke an over-reaction. And
they do it on the anniversary of some perceived slight, such as the
signing of a peace treaty.

No matter how Islamic the attack was, it was _not_ the work of a
terror cell, because its leaders would have known better than to waste
an asset on such a low-value target. And risk he survives.

No, they blow up markets and buses too.

Okay, you are an Al Qaeda brainwasher, and into your lap falls a well-
positioned officer in the US Army.

You only get one shot to pick a good plan:

( ) tell him to go buy a big gun, and then shoot up a room at random

( ) play him until he's around the highest-value target possible.
