So, what is Keane anyway? Do we have to have REALLY BIG EYES to work there?

Keane Inc. is A-OK. I worked for them for almost 4 years. No complaints.
They are big and financially stable. Just get your money up front (like
anywhere) and it will be good. If I ever want out of aka-demia and into
consulting, I will knock on their door first.

There. A shameless, but credible plug by an ex-employee.

Well, considering that the first words out of the mouth of a local
recruiter were "I'm being laid off next week, because the company
is having financial problems...", I chose to work elsewhere. :-)

I worked for Keane for over two years before I was "terminated without
prejudice" (their term for being laid off I guess). At the time, things in
the northeast were pretty dismal for consultants, and I had been "on the
bench" for two months.

Overall, I enjoyed working for them. They did give me a nice paperweight
and $100 "nite on the town" when I won a branch award or two.

One thing I didn't particularly care for (and didn't find out about until
quite some time after I was hired) was Keane's "pool" policy. After you've
been on the bench for a certain amount of time, you go into a regional and
eventually national pool, where your credentials can be presented to any
client, and if they want you, you have to go. (Caveat: I don't know if this
is still the case, I haven't talked to anyone from there for quite some
time now.)

If anyone's interested in hearing further good and bad Keane stories,
I'll be happy to oblidge in e-mail.

That is unfortunate that the recruiter was laid off, but it is no
indication of Keane's financial well being. Keane has been growing at an
incredible rate and just had their best quarter ever.

I work for Keane, Inc. and I can tell you that Keane is a GREAT company!! I
have been exposed to some great technologies and challenges and I have only
been out of school for about 5 months. Keane has quadrupled in size over the
last three years as a result of some very wise acquisitions (AGS, General
Electric Consulting Services, etc.) Who knows, maybe Andersen is next :-)

Anyway, check 'em out

I presently work for Keane. I am not presently looking for
another job. I read the help wanted ads every Sunday like anyone in this
business should.
