Database Administrator
Job Essentials: - Developing, debugging, and optimizing SQL scripts
and stored procedures. - Set up access privileges to databases by
defining users and security roles. - Perform backup and recovery,
database consistency checking, and loading and uploading of data. -
Participates in disaster recovery planning and drills. - Develop and
maintain a comprehensive database software configuration database/
library. - Proactively monitor the use of disk space and take actions
to optimize the use of space and trouble shoot performances issues. -
Collaborates with Network Systems Analysts to schedule and perform
database server installations. - Verify data integrity and validation
from source systems. - Manage and maintain all production and non
production databases and replication servers. - Leads database upgrade
projects, scheduling and applying database software patches and
upgrades as well as work within project teams, following all standard
project methodologies. - Collaborates with BI Data Modeler to ensure
maximum performance, data availability, and efficient utilization of
databases. - Development and testing support ¿ assists Application
Developers and other IS staff to efficiently utilize the database. -
Designing relational database schemas. - Maintains Knowledge Base and/
or Application Inventory on new technologies/databases/
troubleshooting procedures. - Self motivated to continually advance
technical knowledge and proficiency remaining up-to-date on current
trends and best practices, and provide mentoring to other team members
- Seek and recommend new technologies or vendors to address specific
business needs or to enhance practices. - Provide 24 x 7 on-call
support acting as gatekeeper for triage of tickets including in depth
notes. - Adheres to IS Business Practices and Project Methodology.
Educational Requirements, Qualifications: B.S. in Information Systems
Technology, Technical School Certification or equivalent experience in
a technical/business environment. Minimum of 5 years experience in
Information Systems database administration/development or related
business area. Working knowledge of SQL and Oracle databases
preferred. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems,
Microsoft Office applications, database management, web development
tools and other technical/report-writing tools as necessary.
Demonstrated ability to provide technically oriented solutions.
