electrical technician, electronic technician and mechanical
technician. The following trades are presently being considered for
Marine Electrical Technician.
Graduate of courses listed below may apply for apprenticeship in trade
listed:
• Electrical – Construction & industrial
• Electrical Engineering Technology
• Electro Mechanical Technician
The selection process for the apprentices is carried out under the
Public Service Employment Act, which ensure that appointment are made
competitively on the basis of merit. Selection is determined by
considering a number of factors such as:
• Trades training, including marks obtained in theory and shop
practice;
• Specialized training, other than that taken to qualify in a trade;
• Knowledge, abilities and personal suitability for employment as an
apprentice;
• Recent work experience in the trade would be beneficial to an
apprentice.
EDUCATION:
- Successful completion of a trade course from a recognized
post-secondary institution.
- MUST NOT have a journeyperson status.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS / COMMENTS:
When the interviews are completed, selections are finalized and offers
of employment are made, the successful candidates may be required to
submit a certification of medical fitness and must obtain an Enhanced
Reliability Security check before being taken on strength.
