WHO CAN APPLY: This position is open to persons residing in Canada and
Canadian citizens residing abroad.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: As a District Medical Officer at Veterans Affairs,
you would be working in a low-stress position involving a reasonable
workload. The work is Monday through Friday with no over-time or
on-call responsibilities. The Federal Public Service offers a
comprehensive benefits package, including paid sick leave, paid
vacation leave, as well as pension, health and medical plans. Your
salary will be up to $56.35 per hour and you may also be entitled to
an allowance of $10.32 per hour (from now until September 2007).
CHALLENGE: Challenge your expertise in this key role, providing health
and disability pension services to eligible Veterans, civilians,
current and former members of the Canadian Forces, and ex-RCMP staff
in and around Brandon. You will also provide consultations and
education services to staff of Veterans Affairs Canada, the Veterans
Review and Appeal Board, client organizations, and other physicians
and caregivers of Veterans Affairs Canada clients.
EDUCATION: As the ideal candidate, you must have graduated with a
degree from a recognized school of medicine and possess a valid
licence to practice medicine in Manitoba or immediate eligibility for
registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba
for full practice medicine.
EXPERIENCE: Experience is required in EACH of the following:
Significant experience in a primary care setting. Preference will be
given to candidates with recent experience:
1) as a family physician;
2) in one or more of the following fields:
Compensation Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Industrial Medicine,
Insurance Medicine, Internal Medicine, Occupational Medicine,
Psychiatric Medicine, or Rehabilitation Medicine; and/or
3) working in or consulting with teaching hospitals affiliated with
post secondary institutions.
Experience in using a variety of computer software programs including
word processing in a Windows environment.
CANDIDATES MUST CLEARLY DEMONSTRATE, IN WRITING, THAT THEY FULLY MEET
THE EXPERIENCE CRITERIA. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN YOUR

anciens membres de la GRC et aux anciens combattants admissibles, a
Brandon et dans les environs. Vous devrez aussi offrir des services de
consultation et d’education aux employes du ministere des Anciens
combattants et du Tribunal d''appel et revision des Anciens
combattants, aux organisations clientes et a d’autres medecins et
soignants des clients du ministere des Anciens combattants.
SCOLARITE REQUISE: Le candidat ideal ou la candidate ideale doit avoir
un diplome d’une ecole de medecine reconnue et detenir un permis
d’exercer la medecine en Manitoba ou etre immediatement admissible au
titre de medecin praticien aupres du College des medecins et des
chirurgiens du Manitoba.
EXPERIENCE REQUISE: Experience requise dans CHACUN des domaines
suivants:
Solide experience au sein d’un etablissement de soins primaires. La
preference sera accordee aux candidats ayant une experience recente :
1)en tant que medecin de famille;
2)dans une ou plusieurs des disciplines qui suivent :
Evaluation medicale aux fins d''indemnisation, geriatrie, medecine
industrielle, medecine des assurances, medecine du travail, medecine
psychiatrique, ou medecine de readaptation; et (ou)
3)du travail dans un hopital d’enseignement affilie a un etablissement
postsecondaire ou de la consultation d’un tel hopital.
Experience et aisance dans l’utilisation d’une variete de logiciels,
notamment pour le traitement de texte, dans un environnement Windows.
