Charter: can.internet.highspeed

The goal of this newsgroup is to provide a forum for discussion about
different Canadian residential highspeed internet options, including,
for example, cable modem, xdsl, microwave, satellite.

For the purposes of this newsgroup, highspeed is defined as internet
access which can be delivered over any number of transmission
technologies, which at present includes xDSL, leased line, ISDN,
cable modems, and microwave (and by the time you read this, probably
other transmission technologies). Whatever the technology, this group
is focused on highspeed residential internet access which is
currently characterized by dedicated (non-dial) connections.

This group should be of interest to
* current residential highspeed/broadband subscribers looking for
information about current and future service configurations,
* potential users researching available options, and
* current and potential highspeed providers.

Its purpose is to promote informed choice, optimum service
configuration, and peer support through positive dialogue among the
Canadian highspeed internet community.

You can expect to find the following types of discussions:
* comparison of different types and models of highspeed service, and
different implementations of the models;
* mutual learning and discussion of "best practices";
* support issues and resources of relevance to highspeed services.

The following types of posts are *not* appropriate:
* Spam, trolling, excessive cross-posting or re-posting;
* Binary files (images, sounds, or programs);
* Conduct not considered respectable, within usenet netiquette limits
(for example, no harassing, flaming, foul language);
* Commercial content, unless it is within the context of current
discussion threads (for example, replying to specific queries).
* Threads of interest only to a specific group for which another
newsgroup exists.
* ISP bashing.
* Please, only unformatted text (no HTML, RTF, etc.)
