But it seems to be asking for one...
what is the proper format: username or user...@teksavvy.com
and the password is the same as for the webmail
In any case if credentials for webmail work, wouldn't they work
for the news server also?
I'm connecting without a username/password (just checked and did a pull).
Um, it would *never* be your email address - with or without the tech
savy domain. It would be the login password/name you get from them. Make
sure you force authentication.

Beware of this Steve aka Steve Y aka Steve O etc character - he
questions every post he doesn't understand and if you get irritated at
him, he will follow you through usenet trolling your posts. Plonk
(killfile) him and *never* answer any of his posts or else he'll FROG you
but good!

Teksavvy purchases service from usenetserver.com
With a dynamic IP, you should have access to text only newsgroups.
With a static IP, you should have access to both text and binaries.
Access is based on your IP. It is usenetserver.com which is validating
your IP against a list of IPs given by Teksavvy.
If usenetserver isn't authenticating your IP, then you should call the
folks at teksavvy , give them your IP and notify them that you can't get
to usenetserver.com (they've grown so much that I guess that they
haven't kept up with updating the usernet server database with any new
IP blocks they have gotten)
You are correct.
Block 76.10.182.xxx doesn't work, but another one does.
unplugging & replugging the modem fixes the problem!
No username or password required.
... as does Primus. If Johnny Rebel is switching because "Newsgroups have
been a crap shoot if they are working or not, and painfully slow compared to
what I got when Magma", is TekSavvy going to be any better?

Ah, so you need to pay extra for access to binary groups. Not a big deal,
since TekSavvy's service with a static IP is still less than Primus... but
it's good to know if someone's making the switch.
Come to think of it, doesn't usenetserver.com provide free access to text
newsgroups for everyone?

Just when you think something is behind you, that's when it's in the
perfect position to bite you in the ass.
Don't know specifically what Teksavvy does for Usenet - but from people
I do know that have switch to them, it is faster and more reliable than
Primus. Given that a lot of my Usenet problems are Radius problems -
the blame would be on Primus.

For sure it is - I pay just under $59 for my service w/static IP. I may
opt for a /30 or /29 when I move over - will STILL be less expensive
than Primus. And from what I hear, I would have *actual* tech support
if required. Most of the time I only call to verify my provider is
having an issue and it is nothing on my end.... The guys in Bangladesh
have no clue if there is a problem, ever.
