For quite some time (perhaps a year or two) my first two DNS servers
were:

72.45.127.250 Barrett Xplore
72.45.127.251 Barrett Xplore

My third DNS is:

250.210.42.205 Private World Communications

I have those hard-coded in my TCP/IP config because DNS Benchmark tells
me they're the fastest servers.

Over the past few days, I've had really massive problems with web pages
not resolving, so I fired up DNS Benchmark and it's telling me that "DNS
queries are not being answered here" with regard to the Barrett Xplore
servers.

My ISP is Bell (aka Sympatico), but I've tended to use other DNS servers
(like 4.2.2.2 or these Barret Xpore servers) because (a) they're faster,
and (b) I don't trust Bell.

The "private world" server is working, but has horrible performance (.6
seconds uncached average speed).

After running DNSBench, my new fastest servers are Execulink:

199.166.6.2
69.63.44.109
69.63.44.106
69.63.44.108

Those are the top fastest servers (for me anyways) - all Execulink.
Average uncached speed between 70 and 80 ms. Average cached speed 10 or
11 ms.

My 5'th and 6'th fastest servers are 67.69.234.1 and 207.164.234.193
(Bell / Sympatico file storate and sharing?) which is what my router
gets from my modem. Uncached speed 83 ms, cached speed 11 ms.

So it looks like I'll be changing my DNS server settings, but anyone
know what's going on with these Barrett servers?

That's nice if you live in some shithole of a city like Hamilton but those
DNS numbers would likely be useless for anyone not smelling steel stench in
the air.
