Description: The Nouvel Ensemble Moderne is Canada's first permanent
chamber orchestra dedicated to the contemporary repertoire.
Founded in 1989 by pianist Lorraine Vaillancourt, this
15-member ensemble performs the great works of the
twentieth century. Since its creation, the NEM has
performed in Canada, the United Sates, France, Belgium,
Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Britain and Japan. Its first
tour of Europe received extensive coverage and critical
acclaim in the European media and achieved success
unprecedented in the annals of Canadian music.
