Good morning!

I’m getting in touch about a new training course that University College London’s Institute of Education is running, called:

3 Steps Towards Equitable Practice (3-STEP) Trainer Accreditation Course.

3-STEP is a one-year professional development programme for makerspace and Informal STEM learning (ISL) practitioners, being run by UCL’s STEM Participation and Social Justice group.

This online course will create an international network of 50 accredited trainers who can build capacity in other ISL/makerspace organisations in their region, to implement equitable and inclusive practices.

The accreditation course is based on resources developed during a 4-year international research project called Making Spaces (of which MadLab was a partner organisation).

Its aim is to provide high impact resources to support practitioners in making their ISL spaces and makerspaces more accessible, inclusive and socially just.

The course will be run over a period of 9 months, and require around 5.5 hours of work per month. The dates of the online sessions are (27th Feb, 27th March, 24th April, 22nd May, 26th June, and 24th July 2025).

Participants will be paid £1500 for their time.

  • You can find out more about the programme (and apply) via our website

  • UCL is holding a Q+A information session on Wednesday January 8th 2025, from 4-4:30pm. Sign up information can be found here

  • Deadline to apply: Wednesday January 15th 2025

Yours

Rachael
