We are wondering if Ad-Hoc Subprocess has been implemented in Camunda 7. In Camunda BPMN 2.0 documents, there is some brief introdution about what it is:
http://www.camunda.org/design/reference.html#!/activities/adhoc

In modeller, we can use its construct. However, we have no idea about how to use "Trigger By Event" tick box. It does not seem to allow attach any boundary event to Ad-Hoc Subporcess. There is no where we can specify "completionCondition" and "ordering" defined by BPMN 2.0 either. And after deployment of model with the construct, nothing happened. I checked database and could not find any traces about the Ad-Hoc thing in all runtime tables but only the execution and task from normal flow.
So what is the current status of Ad-Hoc Subprocess in Camunda 7? Thank you.

Michae Yu

Hi Michae,

the ad-hoc subprocess is currently not supported by the Engine.
When deploying a process using the adhoc subprocess you should see the following warning:

Ignoring unsupported activity type | adHocSubProcess

The mentioning of ad-hoc subprocess in our docs you are referring to gives a general introduction to all bpmn elements.

Check out http://docs.camunda.org/latest/api-references/bpmn20/ for our bpmn implementation reference to learn about all bpmn 2.0 elements the engine supports.

Does this help?

Cheers,
Nico
