I have a prepacked Camunda Modeler Standalone
Version: 1.1.0 Released: Apr 04, 2014 Type: Installer
(modeler-1.1.0-setup.x86_64, )

Java is installed in the default folder of Win7:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7 (also a jdk is available there: jdk1.6.0_18)

1) However, when I start Camunda Modeler, first I get an error telling me:
"A Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK) must be available in order to run Modeler. No Java virual machine was found after searching the following locations:
C:\Program Files (x86)\camunda\camunda Modeler (64 bit)\jre\bin\javaw.exe
javaw.exe in your curent PATH"

2) Then, after reinstalling jre-7u51-windows-i586, in the folder indicated by Camunda (which I'd rather not do..) I get another error telling
"Failed to load the JNI shared library:
C:\Program Files (x86)\camunda\camunda Modeler (64 bit)\jre\bin\client<jvm.dll"

It feels 'unfair', how can I resolve this issue?
(or is that up to Camunda? It feels like the package is not up to the job as installation should go flawlessly same as with other packaged software installations)

addition:
I just found an extra version of the Camunda Modeler in the Installation Guide:

It's called "camunda-modeler-kepler-latest.zip"
Howver, after download Win7 tells me it´s an invalid .zip file
So unfortunately that doesn't help either :-(

However, I'm really still curious about the modeler, so I hope I (or camunda?) can improve and make it work.

Hi Huub,

it seems that your JRE/JDK is not added to the PATH system enviroment variable. To verify this just open cmd or powershell and type

where.exe javaw

If javaw is not found you can add your JRE/JDK to your PATH as described here.

Regarding the camunda kelper zip. I just downloaded it and there was no corrupt zip file. But it is also only for Windows 32bit
and I think you got a Windows 64bit machine.

Cheers
Sebastian

@Sebastian, thanks, that solved the PATH error

The second error required a check on my Java type 64 bit vs 32 bit). The Java type must match the Camunda type....
