with the old cockpit 6.2, it was possible to just delete the admin user from cockpit_user and create a new user on the next start of /cockpit.
With the new /camunda admin application, I once saw the "create initial user" form, but now I cant log in anymore. I deleted all users from COCKPIT_USER but still get a login dialog and none of my configured ACT_IS_USER accounts works.
So what is the "new cockpit user" and how do I (re-)set him?

Thank you very much
Jan

Hi Jan,

Behavior in alpha9 will be this:

1.       Create initial user

We check whether the magic group “camunda-admin” has at least one member. If there are no members of the group “camunda admin” the “create initial user form” will be presented.

2.       “Who can log into cockpit?”

We now support explicit authorizations to log into cockpit. Therefore, a “cockpit user” is a user who is authorized to use the cockpit application.

Such authorizations can be managed

-          globally (“anyone can use cockpit” / “nobody can use cockpit”)

-          on a per group basis (“all members of group sales are authorized to use cockpit”)

-          on a per user basis (“Jan is not authorized to use cockpit”)

User authorizations have higher precedence than group authorizations have higher precedence than global authorizations.

Cheers,

Daniel Meyer

OK, now I get it. I have 2 "cockpit" users,  1 created with cockpit62 and one with "camunda admin" .... and they are completely separate, even if I give them the same name "admin".
Thanks.

I had the same problem. After figuring out that camunda is looking after magic group "camunda-admin" I made SQL script for inserting new initial user. New user is generated but still I am not able to log in. I am getting 401 (Unauthorized) error. I am assuming that my credentials are not inserted correctly since camunda uses SH1 protocol (I assume). However here is a link to my issue. I would appreciate any help.
