Hello.

I want to install camunda tomcat (7.4.0) as a service on Windows Server 2008. Im used to do so (with "normal" tomcats, i have not done so with camunda tomcats before) by using the service.bat script in the [SERVER_HOME]/bin directory. Is there a reason why the service.bat is not there in the prepacked distribution?

Perhaps there is a better way on who to do the service installation for camunda tomcat...is there a how to?

Thanks,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

the reason why the service.bat isn't include is that we use the base distribution of tomcat to assemble our distro. The tomcat
base distribution doesn't contain the windows specific files like service.bat etc [1].

I don't know how to install tomcat as a windows service but I think you could download the windows specific distribution [2]
and either copy the windows files to the Camunda distro or install Camunda on the windows distribution [3].

Cheers,
Sebastian

Hi, Sebastian.

It was easy: For BPM Tomcat 7.4.0, running on Tomcat 8.0.24, i downloaded the suitable 64-bit-Tomcat-Distribution (8.0.30 worked fine for me) and dropped tomcat8.exe and service.bat in the bin-directory of the BPM-Tomcat (camunda-bpm-tomcat-7.4.0\server\apache-tomcat-8.0.24\bin). Running the service.bat like this

service.bat install CamundaService

installed me camunda bpm as a service (appearing as 'Apache Tomcat 8.0 CamundaService' in the windows service overview) on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 without problems.
