Hi,

Do you know if the intent is to make bmpn.io be fully-featured like the Eclipse modeler?

Specifically, I'm wondering if there are plans to have it support:

1) Properties editing (i.e. like the properties panel in eclipse)

2) Pluggable custom task implementations like described here (but for bpmn.io):
http://docs.camunda.org/7.2/real-life/how-to/#modeler-creating-custom-tasks-for-camunda-modeler

+++++++

I just checked out version 8, and it's looking like great progress is being made! This is a very exciting project, and would be awesome replacement for the standalone Eclipse modeler, as long as it supports enough functionality (basically almost all the functionality the Eclipse modeler provides).

Thanks!

Galen

Hi Galen,

yes, that is the intent. Nico and Jörg have already stated work on the foundations for property editing and custom metamodel extensions.

There is also this little experiment called camunda workbench in which we experiment with a combined modelling / debugging workflow:

Its quite an early snapshot but it shows a property panel for script tasks :)

I forwarded your post to the bpmn.io team, maybe they will respond as well...

Thanks,
Daniel

Hi Galen,

I personally see an offline application embedding the bpmn.io modeler as a future direct replacement for the Eclipse Modeler. We have already built one: https://github.com/bpmn-io/bpmn-io-chrome. It embeds the limited feature set bpmn.io currently offers and grows stronger with every bpmn.io release.

We have a long way still to go though until it is an actual competitor ;-).

Best regards,
Nico

Hei,

I am very interested in this project and wanted to ask if you are still actively working on this and if you have a date for releasing the first beta/final version.

Thank you already and kind regards,
Francesca
