Hi Jürgen, how are you?

What do you think is the best strategy to apply minDeltaTime for the same species while considering the event with the largest group size?
For example, if I detect one puma and then, 40 minutes later, two individuals, applying a 60-minute threshold would result in only one detection being counted.

I was thinking that perhaps the best option would be to run minDeltaTime = 0 first and then apply a custom code to handle those cases afterwards.

What do you think? Are you considering implementing something like this in future versions of camtrapR?

Thank you very much for everything!

Best,
IanB

Hello and apologies for the late reply. This is already possible. In recordTable, see the function parameters
eventSummaryColumn and eventSummaryFunction
With these, you can specify a column in the record table (derived from the image metadata) and a function to apply to the values of that column for all records within an event. So if for example if you assign a metadata tag "n_individuals" in digiKam, you could return the maximum of " n_individuals" at each event (60 minutes or whatever you choose) . So each independent record that is retained has that summary statistic value assigned, derived from all non-independent records that are represented by that one independent record.

Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Jürgen
