Sorry for the short
notice, but to celebrate the birthday of Simon Tailby, the North Warwickshire
Young Members contact, a social has been arranged meeting at Derby then heading
up to Sheffield to do the Supertram crawl, all are welcome.
Meet at Derby
station at 11:34 for selected pubs in Derby. Then it's the 13:28 train to
Sheffield, where we will visit the Sheffield Tap which has recently opened on
the railway station. It's a restored Edwardian refreshment room featuring 8
handpulled ales from Thornbridge Brewery and up to 200 bottled beers from around
the world, as well as some interesting international beers on draught. We then
buy a day ticket for Sheffield's Supertram system and use it to get to a number
of good real ale pubs along the route, which includes the brewery taps for
Sheffield Brewery Company (Gardeners Rest), Little Ale Cart Brewery
(Wellington), Kelham Island Brewery (Fat Cat) and Crown Brewery
(Hillsborough Hotel) along with last years National Pub of the Year - the
Kelham Island Tavern. If time we shall also visit some fairly cool City Centre
bars that serve real ale. We will aim to be back at Sheffield station by 8pm (if
you need to get back earlier simply jump on a tram back
there).
Kind Regards
