Atlas works with student groups around the
world that promote liberty and is now launching a new grant program to
assist chapters (and networks of chapters) of student organizations to
improve their effectiveness. This opportunity is restricted to organizations
outside the U.S. Other groups, such as think tanks, may also apply if they
have on-campus programs with self-organizing chapters. Most grants will
be below $1,000, but applications for more ambitious projects may be submitted.

This new monthly series of high-quality
case studies will offer an in-depth look at various topics key to running
a successful organization. A step up from the lessons offered in Think
Tank 101 Online, these articles
will offer advice and lessons for both new and established organizations.

Impact of Libertad y Desarollo: A Case Study on Working with the Media
by Bettina Horst. Roadmaps will be a regularly updated series published

Café: Milton Friedman Centenary
It's not too late to sign up to participate
in Atlas's speech contest celebrating Milton Friedman next Tuesday, July
31. Students and interns from the D.C. area will give short speeches to
honor the 100th anniversary of Milton Friedman’s birth. All participants
will receive gift cards and the audience-chosen winner will receive a $300

Liberty Forum
and Freedom Dinner
Join us in New York City this October 3-4
to celebrate the many reasons for hope in the global fight for freedom.
This year's keynote speaker, Virginia Postrel, author of The Future
and Its Enemies, will be joined by legal activist Chen Guangcheng,
Mohammad Ramzipoor, the founder of the Afghanistan Economic and Legal Studies
Organization, Gurcharan Das, author of India Unbound and many other
leaders in liberty. You will also have the chance to engage in panel discussions
on topics such as the Euro crisis, higher education, and the welfare state.

leaders and staff. Successful applicants for these grants will receive

New Book: Voices from
Africa
Atlas's platform AfricanLiberty.org
has published Voices from Africa, a collection of forward-looking
essays by the continent's most inspiring freedom champions. With an insightful
foreword by Professor George Attiyey, this new volume identifies the harms
of Africa's protectionist and militaristic governments and provides a path

Inspiring Youth in Romania
On
June 29, Andrada Busuioc, vice president of the Society for Individual
Liberty (SoLib) and assistant professor at the Academy of Economic Studies
in Bucharest spoke to Atlas about the growth of SoLib and the policy landscape
in Romania. She explained how Romanian society has largely rejected communism,
but the educational system, which has remained almost unchanged since the
democratization, still perpetuates socialist ideas among younger generations.
In response, SoLib has developed e-learning campaigns on the ideas of liberty

The Adventures of Jonathan
Gullible Now in Vietnamese
Atlas's Vietnamese platform DoiMoi.org
has translated and published Ken Schoolland’s The Adventures of Jonathan
Gullible. The book has been a successful tool for helping young audiences
learn about and appreciate basic economic ideas. Milton Friedman said of
the book, "It is an imaginative and very useful piece of work."

Celebrating Friedman and
School Choice in India
Inspired by Milton Friedman's legacy, the
Centre for Civil Society (CCS) in India is partnering with the Friedman
Foundation for Educational Choice to celebrate the powerful impact of Friedman
and his ideas in India. After Friedman's death in 2007, CCS launched a
successful school choice campaign that offered widespread choice throughout

here. Over the next month, CCS
will host multiple events honoring Friedman bringing together both leading
intellectuals and large groups of children benefiting from school choice

Shackles Now in Indonesian
Atlas's Indonesian platform AkademiMerdeka.org
and IDEAS Malaysia, Freedom Institute Indonesia, and Friedrich Naumann
Foundation co-hosted a book launch in Jakarta with Vaclav Klaus, president
of the Czech Republic, for the Indonesian translation of Klaus's book Blue
Planet in Green Shackles. The event was widely attended by liberal
thinkers and activists, including alumni of Atlas-sponsored summer schools
in Indonesia and Malaysia. Attendees of The
Mont Pelerin Society's General
Meeting in Prague, Sept. 2-7 will be able to meet President Klaus, as well
as Atlas's Alejandro Chafuen, Leonard Liggio, Brad Lips, and Tom G. Palmer.
Think Tank Training in
Chile
Libertad y Desarrollo and Atlas are hosting
the second Think
Tank Seminar on October 10-12
in Santiago, Chile. This three-day course will cover a range of topics
including management strategies, communications and fundraising highlighting
best practices from Libertad y Desarrollo. Intellectual Entrepreneurs from
Latin America who are considering starting a think tank or who are working
to grow an established think tank are invited to apply here.

The Morality of Capitalism
in Iran
One of Iran's leading newspapers on economics
introduced The Morality of Capitalism in its coverage of new books
in the region. The book has also been spotted on the shelf and in bookstore
windows in Tehran. Watch for new translations in Chinese, Russian, Spanish
