April 23, 2013
Dear Friends-
It is with a sense of excitement, and also a feeling of sadness, that I am writing to you today. As of April 30th, I will be leaving my wonderful family at Tacoma Musical Playhouse and assuming the position of Managing Artistic Director of Tacoma Little Theatre (TLT). This is a very exciting opportunity for me and a decision that I did not make lightly.
Over the course of the last 5 seasons I have enjoyed the opportunity to get to know so many wonderful students, families, and artists. Through laughter, tears, hard work, and crazy weather, we’ve pulled off some amazing productions and created something very special.
With this change, there’s some other news that I get to reveal. A familiar face will be assuming my responsibilities at TMP. It is with great excitement that I am able to announce that Steve Barnett will be taking over as Director of Education. Most of you know him already and if you don’t, you’ll quickly get to know how great he is. He can be reached at st...@tmp.org and will keep the same office hours that I did.
TLT has been looking for a new Artistic Director and I felt that it was time to take on a new challenge and help keep the arts flourishing in our community. Can you believe that TLT is almost 100 years old? It was just one of those opportunities that if I didn’t take it, I might not have another one like it for a number of years.
Remember that you live in a community rich with theatre. If you want to be a part of theatre, don’t let anyone stop you. Whether that means you are on stage, behind the scenes, or in the audience, know that it’s where you belong.
I won’t be that far away and I hope that all of you will come visit me at TLT!
All my best, Chris Serface P.S. If you ever need to get in contact with me, please feel free to drop me an email at ch...@tacomalittletheatre.com or give a call to 253-272-2281. |
