Lifesaver

I have carried my sure fire eb1 flashlight daily for more than six years. I can not state how important and important this flashlight has been in getting me through many situations from the mundane activity of helping someone find a lost wedding ring to helping navigate my way back in the dark. There are other smaller flashlight but none that combine the power and durability of this flashlight. Pick one up as soon as you can and carry it with you. You will not regret it.

Preface; I use this light as an every day carry light, it also get's used in pistol low light/no light training. In both roles it is a superb light but it excels as an ancillary tool in your defensive arsenal. Deployed alone or with a firearm this light has proven unbeatable.
This is my second surefire backup. I had my last one for 5 years and it was beat to crap. I finally lost it and tried replacing it with a less expensive light from Streamlight, a brand I also like, but they don't compare to surefire. They aren't as expensive either.
This surefire is slightly different from the first generation. I noticed the beam is a little tighter but it still offers a plenty of ambient light around the focused area.
On my first EB1 I broke the glass lens I don't remember how. I used it cracked for at least a year before the glass fell out and revealed a plastic/lexan optical flat that protects the bulb and reflector. it stayed in and I'm sure it'
s still in wherever it is. I pray that light comes back to me as my name and phone # are on it. If it does I'll have two.
Nothing is perfect, if I had a complaint it would be the clip. It goes in and out of a pocket beautifully but it always got caught on seat belts and often got left in my vehicle if I didn't do a self pat down to confirm it was still with me. The clip was strong and would not break and it worked great on a ball cap as a hands free light source as well.
