I'm happy to coordinate. I think I can just order the flowers tonight and set up a paypal acct or give y'all my address for checks. I'll figure something out when I get home tonight.
Actually, I just had a better idea. I'll send flowers from the group and in lieu of reimbursing me, I'll let you all know how much the total is & ask that you donate your part of that on-line to FD in memory of Shotgun. also, let me know what we would like our card to say...someone like Foodie or Psych come up w/ something- you two are so well spoken!
Hi All,
I would love to contribute also… please let me know where and how to send the $.

Hey gang,
The idea of flowers is wonderfu & kudos to those taking charge of that! :-)
I have sent a message to Shotgun's husband to see if in fact a service is planned. I received an email (below) from a friend of the family regarding an education fund that has been set up for her boys, Whit & Avery. I thought I could at least pass this information along for anyone who might be interested. She loved her boys dearly, as all moms do, and I cannot imagine how they must feel right now...
My heart is broken over our loss but I'm relieved to know she is no longer suffering. I know she was at peace with her decision and she went out of this world with only the swagger that our Shotgun could have. I miss her and her wonderful yet powerful humor already.
In case anyone missed the post of her address here it is: 46 Blackberry Lane, Framingham, MA 01701
Hugs to FD53,
Clover :-)
Email regarding education fund is listed below:
An Education Fund has been established for Sarah's sons. I have chatted with Ed & Sarah about their wonderfully bright boys - and their educational goals. If you would like to contribute, info is below.
Please make checks payable: A&W Education Fund
Mail to: A&W Education Fund, C/O Trudy Almquist, 36 N.Main St #3, Natick, MA 01760
Deposits can also be made to any Citizens Bank. Please contact me directly for account info.
| Yes! Education fund sounds perfect . . . although if there is a service I'd still like to send some flowers. Any word on that yet? I've been trying to follow along, but I think I've missed some things. I really appreciate all of you keeping the communication going. You're good for my perspective. I miss all you crazies :) -Sprouts --- On Wed, 5/4/11, Julia Wiley <chard...@yahoo.com> wrote: |
I'm still doing the flowers from the group. Just donate what u think is appropriate to FD or the education fund in lieu of reimbursing me.
Evening all.
I think flowers from the group is good. I received an email back from Ed, Sarah's husband, and he didn't mention having a service. If I hear anything different I'll be sure to let you know. Ed did mention that he would eventually like to meet all of us and that he would appreciate any pictures, etc. that we have of our sweet Shotgun. I think we can all oblige him on that, what do you think? :-)
Had a few tears again today...Shotgun was just such a large presence in my life, both from an FD standpoint but also from the ovarian cancer standpoint. She was a true crusader for awareness and paying attention to the silent symptoms of our disease. Miss her tons...
I too plan on making a donation to FD in her name and with it I may send a picture of what she wrote on the back of one of the vans, "Screw Cancer, Climb Rocks!" I still laugh about that.
Hugs,
Clover
Thank you, Ed, for forwarding this information to our group. I have a feeling there will be quite a few donations made in Shotgun's honor...
You will continue to be in our thoughts & prayers as you face the coming days, weeks, and months. Please give your boys a hug from all of us!

Subject: Re: Hello all, and flowers for shotgun Sprout?Hi Clover,
I saw this note and wanted to give the details on Sarah's services. Also wanted you all to know that Sarah requested that in lieu of gifts or flowers that she would like people to make donations in her honor to First Descents (http://www.firstdescents.org/) or Ovations for the Cure(http://www.ovationsforthecure.org/). Here are the details on the services:
Attached is a quick photo of the flowers I picked....hope everyone
approves. Again, in lieu of reimbursing me, please send something to
FD in memory of Shotgun and to honor her wishes.
Love to you all.
MILF
Those flowers are absolutely gorgeous! Thank you milf!
| They really are lovely, MILF - perfect choice. I so appreciate you doing taking care of this as it's easier for a lot of us to donate directly to FD and the education fund. REally, thanks for taking this on. Very generous. BTW - where is this note that Foodie wrote? I don't think I read it. Also curious - is anybody able to actually represent us at the memorial services? Unfortunately, I'm undergoing treatment myself at the moment, so it's not much of an option for me to travel from WI. Is anybody closer and planning on going? -Beth (Sprouts) --- On Tue, 5/10/11, Andrea MacPherson <anmacp...@gmail.com> wrote: |

Beautiful choice Milf, thanks so much for your hard work!
As far as attending the service(s) - I thought I would be able to make it work but it's not gonna happen. I had a flight picked out, even a place to stay but it's a no go. There will be at least one FDer there although she's not from our group. Her camp name is Cheesesteak and she'll be in attendance at the Philadelphia service on the 16th. She too is an ovarian cancer fighter and I know she'll make all of us proud. My heart still breaks for Shotgun and her sweet family...
Sprouts - what's the latest on you girlfriend? You mentioned treatment, spill it :-)
Foodie - how ya doin' girl?
Dobo?
Fluff?
Seriously needing some FD updates, can you tell? By the way, my string is still on!
Why is it that our group is so scattered about? Times like these makes me wish we were all closer together...
Hugs to each of you,
clover

Hey Clover,
Thought I would shout back you. I'm doing okay - sorta recovering from my winter 3 brain surgeries it was a little tough. My tumor came back and it was worse than before. But I'm feeling better still really tired all the time but that may be my chemo. I'm doing a pill 14 days a month and and IV drug once every two weeks. Currently just waiting on summer it does not seem to want to show itself yet.
Currently I'm in Kentucky and traveling to Columbus, Ohio every other week for my IV drug (Irinotecan). I do not like it and it makes me feel pretty rough with my Temador. I thought I would drop you a quick hello! Hope things are going well for you.
Thanks for the communication and hope all you FD53s are awesome!
Love you guys,

I know I am, as the song says, "one poor correspondent". But I wanted to
let you all know that I read the email chains and think of you guys all
the time. I smile when the news is good and shed a tear when it's not, and
always I'm amazed at the strength that you all show. Thanks to all of you
who are better at keeping up with each other and providing support.
I just finished another FD camp last night and it prompted me to add my
voice here.
Life is crazy busy for me it seems, and I suck at emailing but I always
have time to send the good vibes. Hope you guys get them.
Love to all,
Again

Hey gang,
For those of you in the FD 53 group that aren't on FB, our fellow groupee - Caribou - has been having a rough week. The comments below are from her husband, Cory, who posted them on Facebook. Per Cory's note, "Eden has breast cancer tumors in her brain. Please continue to pray for our family this difficult journey just got alot harder."
Below are more comments posted by Cory. Best I can tell, all of this has gone down within the past 24-48 hours.
"Eden will start radiation on brain tomorrow. 10 days straight and dr's are hopeful that they can kill cancer cells. 80% success rate and sometimes tumor never return. Then we can go back to focusing on the liver. I know she loves lillies and if anyone wants to send her flowers I really think she would get cheered up this way. Address is 11622 summit rock Ct, parrish fl 34219.
Also if anyone wants to stop by to see her feel more than welcome too starting on Friday night. She should be herself. I know that alot of people ask me all the time. "Let me know if I can help u in anyway" the one thing r friends can do is stop by and spend time with us. Let her know that she is strong and can overcome this. Remind her of how strong she is.
Eden was on a strong steroid today that has reduced her brain swelling from the tumors. She has also regain her normal speech back. She is resting well and is hopeful and ready to fight again."
I'll try to keep you posted as best I can.
Hugs to each of the 53 gang,
Clover ;-)
P.S. - it was great to here from you, Again. Keep chiming in - we miss you too!
