Fellow FDers,

For those of you not on FB, our dear Caribou, Eden, is struggling again.  She has some liver issues causing ammonia levels to build up in her body.  Please say a little prayer for her body to get this under control so she can start fighting her tumors again.

Love, MILF

Hi team,

Has anyone got an update for us about Caribou?

I hope everyone else is well and are ready for December. I'm doing a
little of this and a little of that. Also, putting on my winter weight
courtesy of a little creature growing in my belly. Out in March, so I
suspect that is another year I can't get to the FD Ball. Oh well, one
of these years!! I'm going to return to the group of climbers I
climbed with last winter (indoors) but I don't think I'll be pushing
any 5'9 routes this year. Won't be able to get close enough to the
wall!!

Cheers to all and warm fuzzies for Caribou.

This is Eden/ caribou's husband.(Cory)
She is at home resting. Her jaundice comes and goes. Her liver is a mess right now from tumors. She started a new chemo 4 weeks ago and it has thrown her liver into a mess. Plan is to see how this week goes and get a ultrasound on her liver. Next week meet to discuss maybe a diffrent type of chemo with little to zero side effects on her liver values. We are just taking it one day at a time. This is a pic of her yesterday. Her abdominal area is swollen from excessive fluids. She also has a little bit of ascites. Biggest thing now is keeping her Billirubin down and trying to control her ammonia levels in her blood. Because her liver is not working properly she has high levels of ammonia in the blood. This causes nervous system problems and can lead to a coma. Eden is a strong fighter and she made it off life support last year. She will continue to fight!!!!!!

Hi Cory,

Thanks for the update and yup, she's a fighter. We all witnessed it at
FD. Stubborn in the good sense!!!!

I love that she always looks glamourous, even amidst the chaos!

Keep truckin' Caribou. We're thinking about you.

Cheers,
Slash

Hey gang, in the middle of what has already been such a terrible week filled with sad and tragic news comes an update from Cory, Caribou's husband. I've copied and pasted what he's put on Facebook. I cannot imagine what he's going through; I only hope he knows how much we, as an awesome FD group, love our sweet Caribou...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Facebook update from Monday, December 17th, 2012:
Still at ER.... Know one knows what's causing her to loose her ability to speak clearly, also right eye continues to get lazy. Bad news possibly. The ER did brain scan and I have her main radiation onc looking at images tomorrow. We spoke for about 5 min... He told me that the issues I am describing are cancer cells in the brain that have enter the fluid of the brain, and he can't say for sure wit...
hout looking at the images but this is the beginning if the end. He would recommend hospice at that point and we are looking at days to as much a 2 months left with her even if we take drastic measures.... My heart is shattered!!!! I am at lose for words and feel so damn defeated and depressed. We have been fighting for so long and so hard, this was not a option in my mind... I hope he is wrong but I feel like God is telling me this is it..... Please pray for Eden tonight. She has never needed prayers more than now. Please have your churches, friends and family pray.... I can witness to prayers turned in to miracles for her before.... I will post tomorrow after we get results.....I am so sad already
Facebook update from Tuesday, December 18th, 2012:
Please no visitors for a few days. Eden has no immune system currently. Her white counts have crashed from chemo last week. Normal range is 4,000-10,000. She has only 700 white blood cells.
Hugs, prayers, and continued love to FD 53,
FD 53,
Moments ago, Cory gave the following update on Facebook regarding the latest news about sweet, beautiful, spirited Caribou.......
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"I have to get hospice involved now. The cancer has settled into her spine and brain fluid. We are going to tell her as a family soon and my goal is to get her home tomorrow with hospice on board."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Heart broken, yet again, thanks to the dreadful disease that is stupid cancer...
Clover
