Hello everyone! Hope this email finds you all well. Time to check in
for Fall. Nothing particularly new with me but I'd love to hear from
you all. Ordering all my son's senior pictures, graduation
invitations, last yearbook, etc. Now I know what they mean about that
stuff being expensive!

November always caused me to reflect on what I'm thankful for and
while I was thinking about that all of you came to mind. So thankful
for my FD family. So check-in, or as they say "Call Your Mom "- in
this Camp FD case, "email your MILF"

Love to you all,
MILF

P.S. - Slash, can we see that baby again before he goes to school?? A
photo please!

Bama Update:

Life has settled down here.  My wife Mata just released her first CD on itunes and amazon (search for Mata Smith) and is 19 weeks pregnant.   As for me, I'm getting ready for all this dad stuff while also working full time as a Venture Capitalist (not sure how I joined the old boy network but I'm doing my best to pull them around).     We alos just got back from a Trip to Europe (our last big trip pre-baby).

So basically I work, take care of mata, climb (been going to climbing gym 3 times a week), work and sleep.

Howdy FD53!!

Fall update for me? Hmmm....nothing exciting really. I received a "all clear" check-up last month which has made me breathe easier. Seems every time I go for a check-up someone I took chemo with is back in b/c their cancer has returned. Needless to say I go to these check-ups with a lump in my throat and a heavy heart. I'm pleased to announce that I don't have to go back until January - cancer free holiday season, WOOT!

Work keeps me busy. Four murder trials, a child-rape trial, and lots of criminal cases in between and I've been one busy chic. Working late and desperate for sleep has been my mantra. As I say, never a dull moment in the criminal court world!

Papa Bama - congratulations on the baby news! So excited for you and Mata. Can't wait to hear updates from you during the coming months :)

Milf - Hugs your way as your son is about to graduate. He will always need his momma and, his momma's wallet :)

So wish it was possible to meet up with all of you. I think of sweet Shotgun nearly every day (I'm tearing up now just typing her name). I know so many in our group are struggling with cancer and it's viciousness and I do nothing but send prayers, hugs, and tons of FD love your way...

I'm with Milf, Slash, baby pictures please! - preferably one of his cute baby toes :-)

Hugs to each,

Clover

Well, Clover, good check-ups and stretched out appointments are
nothing to take for granted. Glad it was a good one. I just had one
last week too. So stressful though.

BTW, I thought working in family law was crazy...sounds like your
criminal docket has my caseload beat!

BTW, love this update.  We should send one once a month.  Want to me to start the december one?

Hope you're well.  Come visit us out in Cali sometime!

Hello FD family :-)

So happy you started this  MILF, for it is the season.....I believe however no matter what the season if we look hard enough there is always a reason to smile, rejoice and give thanks to God :-)

COngrats Bama and Mata....so wonderful!!  Clover, enjoy this beautiful respite and peace from the ugliness of cancer :-))  s
I am thankful for the pending arrival (any day now!!!) of my second nephew, Baby CHarlie....please pray for health and a safe delivery for my sister.  I am SO thankful for stable brain MRI's since my chemo infusions started this SUmmer, that are telling my neuro oncologists at Duke's Brain TUmor Center, this nasty three chemo cocktail is working :-)  I am still on this cocktail, twice a month, I am told for a year :-((........

MRI's every 8 wks and a flight to DUke every 8 wks with that MRI in hand.  SO, next chemo Friday the 4th and next trip SOuth on Dec. 6th.

Overall, I feel awesome, just enough time between treatments to get the energy back to get to the trails with my labrador retriever, Sadie, the gym, my kitchen to cook --my ultimate therapy :-) and my one grad. school class in my Master's in Food Studies program (had to drop to one--just too much to do two courses with my chemo regimen) which I am still LOVING!!

SO MUCH to be thankful for!!!  By God's grace and mercy, I am kicking stage 4 brain cancer ass, I am in grad school, I still have my hair and I am eating like a pig aka--nausea meds are doing their job!!!  I would LOVE to make a trip out West sometime after my semester winds down---so many restaurants on my bucket list out there like Greg Achat's Next in CHicago--check him out--amaziing story!!! He wrote LIfe on the Line, a book just given to me by another cancer surv. girlfriend--tonque cancer, lost his sense of taste and A CHEF!!!! and also Incanto in San Fran......that is if I"m not in Italy on a study abroad with my graduate program this Spring......

Love to you all.....praying I am done with this chemo junk by next Fall so I can go on my next FD rock climbing expedition!! Blessing and Happy Thanksgiving!!  Ciao, Marisa

“Every time we eat, we endorse the entire system that brings the food to our plate. If we chose industrial, commercialized food, we must acknowledge the direct connection between that “Great Value” cheapness and factory farms, polluted streams and rampant food safety violations. When we consciously choose sustainably, ethically produced foods for our family's weekly menu, we are casting our vote for clean family farms, cows on grass, a more diverse, more sustainable, healthier food system. We truly can make a difference!”

Hi Everyone!

Greetings from Seattle! So glad to hear that everyone is doing well (congrats Bama!). In the theme of babies, I'm about to become an auntie for the first time to a baby girl...and I couldn't be more excited!! She's due December 20th!

Things are good here...lots of work heading up a new Childhood Nutrition Initiative that my company is concentrating on. This is allowing me to escape the office a couple of times a week and teach the glories of things like kale (yay) and quinoa (yay!) to elementary-aged kids :)

Also climbing about twice a week!! This year's round of FD for me resulted in getting a pretty solid group of Seattle-area FDers in order for a little climbing group. Needless to say I thought of you all often on my last trip back to Estes Park! You will hopefully find me directing camps in Moab next year!

Love hearing from all of you.  Please keep them coming!

Spike!

Hello family Wildflower chiming in on this update!

I'm actually sitting on a plane waiting to head to D.C. to meet up with and celebrate the 40th birthday of a new FD cousin (wink face)!

I apologize for this being my first update or "email my Milf" however I do read all the updates you all send!

It makes me so happy to hear about all the good health news!! You are all so amazing.

As for me, I've just been riding the Wildflower waves since our camp I have biked to california, kayaked in costa rica, attended 8 camps this year, 5 as camp director!! And have been spending many nights huddled in my car with my dog loving the life.!!

Its time to fly
Love you all
Wildflower
