Hi Everyone!
Here we are again, working furiously toward our deadlines. Wheeee!
Our early arrival passes came out a couple of days ago, but were recalled because there was some problem with them, so I'm still waiting for the passes which will go to our awesome hardworking crew as follows:
Stephen, Jose, Jill, Jean, Jesse, Temo and Chris and I
We'll be picking up the Truck Friday the 28th, packing it, driving to Reno, spending the night, then waking up early and heading to BRC with the hopes of rolling onto the playa about 11:00. Then meet the placer, get placed and work, build, work. We're hoping to have the bar up and running by Sunday night.
As usual, we'll be mostly a daytime bar, but you are all welcome to work it whenever the mood strikes you. We will have our photobooth, fire pit and are making improvements to the bar and stereo. Temo is also offering to help build a really nice camp shower.
I'm pretty sure its going to the best year ever so far.
Here's what we're looking for from you charming campers:
Everyone should bring a couple of big bottles of booze. Vodka and Tequila go over well. We are bringing up kegs of beer but we will still need to have a fully stocked bar.
You are all responsible for your grey water disposal. We bring up black concrete mixing trays for under the shower, so you'll need to come up with a way to catch your shower water. I'll update this one as I learn more about the shower that Temo is setting up, but you'll want to haul out anything that hasn't fully evaporated by the time you leave.
All campers are expected to help break camp on Saturday. We'll probably start early afternoon and expect to be done by mid to late afternoon so it doesn't interfere with the burn, but it needs to be done Saturday so we can head out on Sunday early. This is really the only work expectation for our campers and we appreciate your labors!
All campers are responsible for their own garbage and recycling. Last year we took a huge pick up truck load of garbage to the dump after the burn. This is not only expensive but its the last thing we want to do when we're trying to get our house back to normal.
Please bring your own beer to drink. We will have kegs for the bar and maybe beer for you all to drink but if it looks like its going to be a busy year we want everyone to have their own so we don't run out. If you'd like to drink beer out of the bar all week lets talk about contributions to the beer fund and we can buy some extra. We usually spend about $700 on beer for the bar. If the bar runs out of beer that means Chris is out of beer and he will not be his usual happy self.
Speaking of contributions.... Our camp has never charged dues, which means that Chris and I fund out of pocket every year many thousands of dollars. We are happy to do that because we love our bar, but if any of you were feeling generous we will happily accept contributions to reimburse us for some of our expenses.
We are planning to do a sweep of camp Sunday morning when we leave, but anyone who stays later than us will be responsible for a final check and clean up. Our placement next year depends on getting a fully green rating, which we've gotten every year as a theme camp.
Thanks to each of you for all you do to make our camp great!
